Question about Cannon Canon i960 Photo Printer

Open Question

Cannot print anything on paper - the printer works in all other ways - just does not put ink on paper. Installed new print head after last one died. Did print fine before head got damaged by paper jam. New head is Canon original part. Is there a fuse somewhere? A driver that's blown?

We installed our new computer and printer..however the printer is not printing out anything. Its working..but no print on the paper. We took the tape off the cartridges. Help!!

Use the HP Printing Assistant software to run a few "print-head-cleaning-cycles",
to s(t)uck ink from the ink-cartridges into the ink-jets, and to unclog any of the ink-jets
that should be shooting the ink onto the paper.

Or, since it is a NEW printer, exercise the WARRANTY to get it repaired/replaced, at no cost to you.

Printing but blanks

did the print out improve after your clean the head?
If all fails, try this last method.. take out all the ink and switch on the printer, when the printer detected no ink, it will ask you to insert the ink cart. Put back the ink cart and let the printer do ink charging.. pls make sure there is ink in the cart else it will damage the head.
After the ink charging, print a nozzle check and see if there is any improvement.

I just installed a brand-new color cartridge (still sealed) in my Canon BJC-85. My computer recognizes the printer and starts to go, but after the page runs through, no print. Any ideas?

The problem you are having is with the print head, not the printer.

Canon print heads, even new factory sealed ones, can end up being old and dried out because they didn't put expiration dates on them, and it's very possible to buy one of these that is dried because of that. There a a couple things you can try to get it printing.

First, try running the printer through one DEEP cleaning cycle. Sometimes that will prime and old " New " print head and get the ink flowing.

If that does not work, you can try wetting a paper towel with some rubbing alcohol and letting the print head sit on that for a couple minutes. If you see color starting to bleed out on to the towel, that is good because it means the ink is starting to flow through. Rubbing ( isoprophyl ) alcohol is safe to use because the conon ink is 65% alcohol.

If that does not work one last thing to try would be to put the print head up to a vacuum cleaner and try drawing it with the vacuum for about 30 seconds, and then blotting it on a paper towel. If none of those work, you'll need to get a new print head.

Printer will not print anything. Ink levels are

If it has been longer than 3 or 4 weeks since anything last printed, the problem may be clogged print heads. Run thru several cleaning cycles and see if anything begins to appear on the paper. If not, changing the ink cartridges may solve the problem. If it's been quite a long time since last printing, you may need new (and expensive) printheads. If that's the case, replacing the printer would be more cost effective. Sorry for the bad news.

My printer not printing at all- paper just rolling out with scant

if you haven't used the printer for a while before you discovered the bad print quality, the print head has most probably completely dried out. i don't think there is anything you can do about that, except for replacing it better having it replaced by an authorised technician.

Print heads and test prints fine......will not print ay documents

I subsequently discovered that only black would not print - the other colours did. The following solution should work for any colour

Turn on the printer
Lift the front cover so that the ink tanks line up at the front
Move the grey arm to the right of the yellow upwards
Remove the ink tanks (in my case 4)
Carefully lift out the plastic holder for the ink tanks, this I believe holds the print heads
Clean the head(s) using cotton buds and injet refill ink cleaning fluid. I get mine from Tescos with my refill inks.
Replace everything and hopefully your printer will be o.k. Mine was

New ink in printer but will not put ink on paper.

It sounds like blocked nozzles to me, providing you're SURE you have good cartridges, properly installed (you did take the yellow plastic tapes off the vents before you installed the cartridges of course).

You can try soaking the print heads for 24 hours (or more), as follows. Turn the printer on, and as soon as the print head moves out of its parking position, pull the power cord out of the back, or turn the printer off at the mains. You may now carefully move the print head by hand over to the left hand side out of the way. Look inside the print head parking area on the right and you will see a small rubber cup that comes up to cover the print nozzles when the head is parked (to stop it drying out). Use a syringe or dropper to fill this cup with head cleaning fluid or distilled water. DO NOT USE TAP WATER. Carefully push the print head by hand fully into its parking position so that the cup full of fluid comes up over the print head. Do not turn the printer on at any stage in this process. Leave this for at least 24 hours, then turn the printer on and try a head clean/nozzle check again. If nothing, repeat the process once more. If still nothing, post a new comment detailing what you have done and the results

Cartridge dock malfunction?

I answered a similar question 5 mins ago

It sounds as though your print head got jammed and did not resturn to its 'parking place'

Open the cover and look at the printing head (where the ink sits).

Is it located to the very far right or is a couple of inches out from the right?

If it is out, gently push it back to the right as far as it will go, then power it back on, it should do all of its checks as normal and the head will move a few times, but it should return to the far right and then be ready for printing.

Check there is no paper jammed anywhere and reload any paper.

Try to print again

Does it now work??

Black ink not printing

This is what worked (so far) with my Dell1.gif AIO A940 printer1.gif that wouldn't print black ink.

It worked for awhile when I chose photo/glossy paper, but then it quit printing again (see below).

PRINT, PROPERTIES, PAPER SETUP, SPECIALTY PAPER, PHOTO/GLOSSY

I got it to print, again, by putting SEVERAL papers in the feeder (instead of just 1) - there is a sensor that is supposed to automatically detect paper type, and it might not be working right, especially with one or only a couple of sheets.
