Harmony Dryer My child took the lint off the lint filter and stuffed it down below the filter, so when I turned on the dryer it makes loud knocking type sounds. I turned it off in fear that something worse might happen, what should I do?

Take a putty knife and push it into the top removing clips between the top and cabinet, Lift up until it releases and set
it aside see if you find the lint or whatever in there and remove it

WOW.I would recommend not to use dryer until you have someone check this out .Please unplug and do not use .Its possible the ball of lint got caught somewhere in dryers mech and or drive parts ..If you get that removed ,while were there ,Its a good time to vacuum and clean the inside for other lint inside..Get that checked out quick as you need that dryer for winter.....take care

How do I clean lint from inside GE Harmony Profile Dryer?

You have to remove the panel. The assume the lint filter works better then they usually do and do not make it easy to open up and clean inside. You may have to open it from the back side which does open up to allow repairs, etc.

My GE Profile Harmony dryer won't dry. The drum is turning but the clothes just won't dry. Circuit breaker is not tripped.

Frequently there's an obstruction in the vent duct from the dryer to the outside of the house. For the dryer to heat properly, the duct must be clean and clear of lint or any other substance. Your dryer has some internal ductwork. If it gets clogged, your dryer can't dry properly. In most dryers, to get to the internal ductwork to clear the clog, you have to substantially disassemble the dryer. A quick way to check for internal clogs is to remove the lint filter and use a flashlight to inspect the inside of the duct.

I ran the dryer without the lint filter in it and now it is noisy

First of all, You have a serious safety issue. Your dryer may catch fire. DO NOT USE YOUR DRYER.

Something went into the mechanism (yes, may be another sock), and a lot of lint went inside the dryer. The dryer needs to be cleaned by a technician. Using the dryer on its condition may cause a fire. Don't get your house burned down just to save some money doing it by yourself.

GE Profile Harmony dryer sounds like a jet plane about to take off

KathleenA

I too have a GE Profile Harmony (Gas) Dryer that had started vibrating and making a loud noise. I removed the screws that held the filter and grill to the inside of the door frame and placed a mirror inside so I could see down inside the fan. I found that a softner sheet had somehow gotten around the filter screen and had lodged in the blades of the fan and had collected a fairly large amount of fine lint. The combination of the dryer sheet and the lint had created an out of balance condition that caused the dryer to vibrate and make noise (the forward cabin door has been closed and we're ready for takeoff!) I used a bent coat hanger as a hook and using the mirror to aim the hanger, I hooked the dryer sheet and pulled it out through the hole for the filter.

I hope I'm not too late to help you if indeed this is your same problem.
