Hello, My Olympus Camedia C3000 digital camera is stuck in format disk mode.
I try to
click no and it just shuts itself off.
I click yes - card set up and I
get "card error"
I re-formatted the card on my laptop, and that didn't work
My laptop recognizes the card so I don't think it's the card, but instead a setting on the camera. I believe I might have pressed a button that I have not used before (I don't have a manual for this camera) and accessed this setting but now can't exit out of it.
I also do not know if the card is the original one for this camera. It is an ID Smart 32 MB media card that is fairly large (compared to the others I see at the stores)
Thanks for your time
Hi all!!! I am so excited to say that i fixed my Olympus 3000 card error. I read around and this is what i found to do.......
plug in the camera to your computer then turn it on. Next flip the
the camera switch betweem P, playback, and asm repeatedly. unplug the cord open the door to the cardreader the screen should say door open. scroll the knob again. Take out the card. put it back in then put it in playback mode. HURRAY!!! it should work. If it does not work try pulling out the card at a different time. It sounds crazy but it really worked without having to download anything at all. OH, and if it works for you please post it because there are so many answers and it is hard to choose one that will work. BE BLESSED!!!
Card/camera stuck in format mode. Crazy as this seems and can't seem to find these little gems anywhere. My son in law gave me this little card, same size at the memory/photo card but it is a cleaning card. Well, when I would take my card out of the camera and put it in my printer to download the pictures then put it back into my camera, 8 times out of ten the dang thing would stick in format mode. Well the little gem of a cleaning card would slide right in, clean the inside of the slot and when I put my memory card back in it would work. the white cleaning card had black stuff on it. The cleaning card was only to be good for ten times and has little check off boxes but I used it for about three years. Unfortunately my teenage son used my camera and lost the cleaning card so last time I took the memory card out and replaced it the camera was stuck in format mode. The holidays came and went, I searched for a cleaning card with none to be found as well as no memory cards!!! Thank you Chris!! My son-in-law who just so happened to have a spare cleaning card. He can't even remember where he picked these cleaning cards up but he gave me the last one he had and now as of today my camera works again. Crazy, huh. So Olympus must have these cards or all of us who have an Olympus camera with this strange problem should contact Olympus and have them make a bunch of them and get them to us. Best wishes to you in finding a cleaning card but they must be out there some where and I am going to keep looking for more.

I tried that and it wasn't the solution, but thank you.
I finally got it back into the right mode, but I am not sure how I did..lol
Now, since I reformatted the card, Windows formatted it in FAT file format. Only that was apparently not the original format because now it takes about 5 seconds between each picture where before it was instantaneous.
And my father and I played around trying to re-format the card in the right file format, but can't. And I have to use a file recovery software to even get the pics on my pc. Any suggestions for this new problem?
