Question about RCA L26HD31 26 in. LCD HDTV

1 Answer

My RCA L26HD31 has started to buzz. The problem started after an apparent power surge. My other electronic devices that shared the surge protector are fine but the RCA is buzzing. Video and audio work fine on each input but the buzzing will start eventually. How do I find out if its a power supply issue or a dead board? Could it be something else? Are there any bulbs that could buzz if they need to be replaced? Thanks

Had early morning power outage, when power restored the red pwr light comes on and a click is heard and the pwr light go's out. tried unplugging from outlet, no change

If you do not have a surge protector, when the power came back on, a high voltage spike probably damaged sensitive electronic components. Always use a surge protector for any device that has electronic components. The higher the joule rating, the more energy that can be absorbed.

HOW TO PROTECT YOUR ELECTRONIC GOODS AGAINST POWER SURGES

I have only been giving advice on FIXYA for a very short while but have noticed that an awful lot of the people who relate their product issues , particularly complain about faults developing after power cuts / outages. It is apparent, from a description of the complaints, that damage is being caused by outages that may be a result of power surges blowing electricity sub stations.
There are a lot of damaged audio devices / tvs being affected. As such I advise you TO BUY SURGE PROTECTORS for all you valuable devices.
I have them around the house and although we only get an occasional power cut here in the UK I know that at times they have saved my equipment fron power spikes. The small cost is justified in the long run.

Surge problem? I have a Samsung LN40C530 LCD TV and when I plug in and turn on anything that pulls alot of power ( Vaccum,Iron, Perkulator coffee pot)into a wall plug on the same circurt my tv goes blank...

Your TV should not be sharing a circuit with any of the devices you mention. The problem is not surges, it's current drain. Apparently your TV is sensitive to voltage drops

Had power surge. Tv was on surge protector. Now no power will come on and just makes a buzzing sound.

Have you tried plugging it in without the surge protector? I would wager that either a) the surge protector needs to be reset/turned on and off depending on the model or b) either your TV and/or surge protector have been damaged by the power surge.

Try plugging the TV straight into the outlet and see if that helps.

After a lightning storm my bosch single 30" wall oven displayed an F03 err. I turned the power supply off at the breaker for one minute as directed by the oven's manual. This action did not...

Find out what the F03 error is for and then check out the appropriate area. If there was a strike of surge the most likely place to look for damage is the area where the electricity first enters into the device.

My Panasonic TV/DVD/VCR Combination has a dull buzz sound on all channels. How can I stop that Dull Buzz? Model number PV-DM2719. LBV

Lets focus on the external portion of the TV set first (95 percent of all TV problems are related to things EXTERNAL To the tv itself) Check the physical CONNECTION of all cables by removing each wire bare or RCA and reinstalling it (Each power cable as well), once you have removed one cable, check it for fraying, and if it is already bare, splice a new fresh connection for it. 5. Check to make sure there are NO OTHER uneeded radios, system nearby. these systems, when powered on, will cause electromagnetic interference and prevent more than just severe tv interference SURGE PROTECTOR Surge protectors account for more than 75 percent of electric faults to stereo equipment. Lets start with your AC Wall outlet. It is standard in america that 220 Volts from out of these outlets. This implies that each device will be using 220 Volts (From within that grid zone). If anything including an alarm clock is plugged into any AC outlet socket in the vicinity of the stereo equipment/TV, it will cause electric outage, and prevent electronics from even turning on! Your TV needs dedicated electric power. If your TV is located in the living room then unplug everything else in the living room. Lets plug the TV set into a Dedicated socket. Check all light switches to ensure that power is on for that outlet. Check the TV cable for Fraying both on the ac wall end and where it plugs into the TV. Check all GFCI outlets to ensure that all red reset buttons are pushed in, check the circuit breakers for proper connection and they are turned on. Now, lets try the TV set without it connected to any cable services, vcr, dvd, stereo system, etc.

Blinking standby light, dead dvd player

Hello illeanaceres,

I'm sorry to hear about the bad news, I had something similar happen to me around a month ago.

Honestly there is not much you can do if it is damaged due to a power surge. Resetting it would be the normal procedure.

Surge protectors only protect equipment up to a certain amount of joules. Basically if the lightning is powerful enough it can damage electronics with that initial surge. You should replace your surge protectors every few years if it is 2-3 years old then it may not be as effective.

Post back if you have anymore questions or comments. Thank you for choosing Fixya!
