SOURCE: I need to know the size of external fuses for a

25 to 30 amp fuses will work great, anything lower could possibly blow a fuse when a good bass note hits even if there is nothing wrong with the amp. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: What fuse do i use

Watts = Voltage x Current

300 = 12 x Current

Current = 25 amps

Sounds like a 30 amp slo-blo fuse would be about right -- you could start with a 25 amp and see if that holds it.

Am not getting the full power to my amp just wanna know why

i have always heard that for ever 2000 watts you need at least 1 farad of capacitor. also once you hit more on the lines of 3000 or more you need a bigger alternator or battery and a capacitor is a must to keeping your amp running cooler and cleaner by keeping voltage drops to a minimum.

I have a dual XIA3145 580 watt amp that keeps blowing fuses

Generally, this indicates that there's at least one shorted output transistor.

Disconnect all speaker wires from the 'amplifier's speaker terminals' and disconnect RCA/signal cables from the amp. If it powers up normally, the speakers/wiring need to be checked. If it still blows the fuses, the amp almost certainly has shorted output transistors and will need to be repaired.

I'd recommend using two 10 amp fuses. The amp will power up with 10 amp fuses if there is no problem. If there is a problem, there's less of a chance of doing more damage by using the 10 amp fuses.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

You will need a 6 Gauge wiring kit with a 50amp fuse to the battery. You can verify this by looking at the kits being sold on the internet for 600 Watt car amps.

I need to know what kind of fuse my amp takes...

IT MAY MEAN THAT IT TAKES (2) 25 AMP FUSES
IF YOU HAVE THEM OUT SEE IF IT SAYS WHAT THEY ARE OR OPEN IT UP IT MAY SAY IT ON THE BOARD OR THE FUSE HOLDER OR LOOK @ THE SPECS ON THE AMP SEE WHAT THE TOTAL CURRENT IS YOU CAN ALWAYS START WITH A SMALLER AMPAGE LIKE 10 -20 AMP FUSE ALWAYS GO SMALLER
