Try buying a cable that has on one end a plug like your headphones (this goes into your ipod) and two AV plugs on the other end (one should be red the other white) Plug the red and white into the AUX input on the back of your stereo and select AUX. You should be able to buy them at Radio Shack, Dick Smiths etc.

How do I hook up my ipod to my pioneer vsx d409 ?

The best way is to use a 3,5mm stereo jack to 2 RCA cable like this:
technical114_34.jpg
You can easily find one like this at your local audio/electronics shop or buy one on line. You have to connect the RCA at any free stereo input at the back of your Pioneer (like aux or cd). Take a look at this picture:
technical114_35.jpg
After this you can use the 3.5mm stereo jack for connecting not only your ipod but every mp3 player or other device has an earphone jack. Just plug the 3.5mm jack at the earphone jack and rise the volume at the portable device up to the middle of the volume range and set your Pioneer input selector at the stereo input that you connect the 2 RCA before (aux or cd)

Can i hook an ipod up through an aux cable that plugs in to the ipod . its the red and white aux cable and it plugs into the earphone place on an ipod

If you are talking about the cable I think you are, all you do is plug the red and white rca into the input of your choice on the back of your radio and the other end into your choice of audio output (anything with that size headphone port).

I have a denon ipod dock and a harman/kardon receiver. Can I connect the dock to the receiver?

To plug the dock into the receiver to supply power and interface with the iPod you would have to have one with a built in iPod. Most receivers will not do that, the most common way to connect an iPod to a receiver is using a 3.5mm to RCA cable. You don't even need the dock to do this, you can plug the iPod directly in. You can find this cable at most electronics shops if you don't want to buy online, like Best Buy or Radioshack.
Make sure you connect the white and the red end of the RCA cable to the correct sockets on your receiver, and the small 3.5mm jack into the iPod or the iPod dock, you have to turn the iPod volume up and select the corresponding input on your receiver. If you plugged the 2 RCA jacks (white & red) into the socket labeled "AUX" or "Video 1" you have to select "AUX" or "Video 1" in order to hear the sound.

How can I hook up my Ipod to the radio system inexpensively

If you don't have a cassette player, you can purchase an ipod/RCA adapter cable for about $10 and plug it into your aux inputs in the rear. The cable has one end that fits into your ipod headphone plug and the other end is a white and red pair of plugs (called RCA plugs)that will plug into the rear inputs.

There is a AUX Source, where is the plug for it? Normally an AUX source means you can plug up an Ipod or MP3 Player with an AUX cord, but i dont see a plug for it.

There's no 1/8 plug for it. Only two RCA/Phono plugs (one red & one white). I also wish I could plug my iPod on my RS2522, but it may be old now.

Check Radio Shack, thay make an adaptor with a white and red audio plug that can connect to an input on the receiver (AUX) the other end goes into the headphone jack on the iPOD.

Connecting an Ipod to JVC TH-M45 System

you can hook up ipod 2 different ways. the one i will use will be with a 3.5 to 3.5 mini plug connection(on both sides of cable it has i.e. head phone jack connection) and then set unit to aux in and that will give you sound from ipod. another way is with red and white audio cables to 3.5 mini plug connection. connect red and white to audio in on back of unit, and then set unit to that source.

Plugging in my iPod

All you have to do is get a cable that on one end can connect to the headphone jack on your ipod and the other end will have the audio left and right jacks(red and white). The wire doesn't cost that much, maybe $10. Plug the two audio jacks into your Video1 connection on the back of the system and turn your receiver to Video1. That's how i play my ipod on the surround sound.
