Hi,
The "login" is the username or account name you created when you first installed ubuntu.
The password you will already know and should work.

Regards.

Have HP computer with windows 10 home and can't download linux into computer

go to the linux web site and down load ubantu to a usb stick
then burn a disc from that usb stick
use the disc to install the os on the computer
ubuntu is the same system as win 7 but with different names for the files and folders so it is easy to pick up and use
if you still have problems there are linux forums with plenty of help as to problems associated with using linux products
I found that it will not install directly from the usb stick and that has been mentioned in the forums but is readily capable from the disc for some reason or other
there are many linux operating system such as apache and the like but ubuntu is by far the easiest and most common
Libra is a very good office suite operating system from linux

Installing ubuntu on my acer x483 but it stopped, and this is what i am seeing, Udevd[261]: '/sbin/blkid -o udev -p /dev/sdb'[3102]terminated by signal 9 ( killed), What do i do next

Your installation medium may be corrupted. Try downloading Ubuntu again and burn it to disc or use Linux Live (Google it) to load it onto a USB drive to boot from. Once you do that try reinstalling it. Make sure you download the latest version, either 12.04 LTS or 13.10 (currently latest as of Nov 10th). A new version is released every 6 months and a new LTS is released every 2 years. Version number signifies the year (12 for 2012, 13 for 2013) and Month.

While installing ubuntu on my emachine d6417 when it gets to copying files it freezes and if i am using windows 7 sometimes in the middle of me doing something or checking emails it cuts off and dumps...

You may have a hard drive problem or a ram problem causing the freezing i would suspect it to be a ram problem if it freezes while loading files from the ubuntu disc as ubuntu loads to ram before installing you can down load and make a boot-able disc from SEAtools to test your hard drive. And some older versions of ubunbtu (9.10 and earlier)had a utility for checking memory (ram) )you may be able to down load this tool from ubuntu forums or google for ram (random access memory )testing utilities that can be run directly from your c/d drive on a bootable disc.

I hope this helps

My model is gigabyte g41m-combo motherboard i want linux os which linux os is best support tell me about kernel verstion ?

Hi,
Its your good decision to try linux.
I would like to suggest you to try Ubuntu linux as this supports most of the hardwares.

Download latest ubuntu for the below link
http://se.releases.ubuntu.com/10.10/ubuntu-10.10-rc-desktop-i386.iso
After downloading, write the ISO image to a cd which will be a bootable cd.

place the disc in your drive, restrt you machine.
Boot your pc from this ubuntu cd.

you will get the live ubuntu (no need to install) or even you can install if you want.

Kernel is common for all the linux and it s core operating system file.

I hope this is useful to you
please rate the solution provided.
thanks

How to install linux on compaq presario cq40-144tu

hrm... i'll just assume that this is the first time you've attempted anything with linux? There are vairous Linux distributions, with the Ubuntu flavour seeming to be the best one for the windows to linux switcher (IMO). I would try a live Ubuntu disc first to make sure it's what you're after, which can be downloaded here
http://releases.ubuntu.com/intrepid/ubuntu-8.10-desktop-i386.iso

or if you're ready to dive straight in, here is the full version that you burn to a cd and then install
