95% of the time the problem is with the water valve on the back of the fridge that supplies water to the IM. I would verify first if this is your problem. It is a part that often fails and is quite common occurance.

Have a Hotpoint model HSM25GFRA SA Ice maker stopped did some checking ond found the water solinoid to ice maker was open and replaced it. But still no ice, have removed ice maker, cleaned and defrost

Check to see if there is ice blocking the tube to the icemaker. Sometimes when the valve is giong bad or the icemaker sits too long without making ice the tube will freeze and block up with ice.

Good Afternoon: I have model # GD5RHA. My icemaker is not working. I have checked everything. Can you tell me where the icemaker wire shutoff arm is located please?

Looked up the model number and your IM does not appear to have an arm on it. Sometimes the optics get blocked by the ice bucket being out of place. Looked up your tech sheet and it turned out blank. Incomplete model number most likely. Gotta shoot from the hip. Just gonna toss a manual your way and hope for the best:

Model: ed5fhexnbo1 ....Noise comes from freezer side; sounds like the motor or fan is rubbing something. This occurs intermittently. Ken

You could have bad bearings in your evaporator fan motor. I would also check your fill tube for your icemaker and make sure that it has not frozen and popped out of place. Sometimes they will pop out of place and when the icemaker is filling it will drip some water down onto the evap fan blade causing it to rub on a block of ice. If theres not ice build-up then replace the evap fan motor it should take care of your problem. Part# 4389144
Hope this helps _MJ_

it would have double solenoid where water enters fridge at the back. Possible screen is pluged inside the solenoid. Possible one solenoid is burned out. Sometimes the water entering to ice maker would freeze inside the tube and stop water from filling ice maker. Check those things for now. Another thing to ckeck to make sure nobody pulled the icemaker arm up to stop icemaker

Icemaker stopped working

You will have to determine whether the problem is due to no water getting to the icemaker or a control problem in the icemaker unit.

There is a water valve near the bottom of the refrigerator where water from the outside source enters the refrigerator. This valve sends water to the icemaker (and probably the water dispenser) when the refrigerator controls call for water. These valves can malfunction, and the water lines can get blocked.

The other possibility is that something inside the icemaker controls has malfunctioned, and it is not calling for water.

Your unit has infered sensors on the frezzer left and right walls. There is a diagnostic test sheet brown in color in your kick plate. All you have to do is open frezzer door look on the right sensor it should blink twice followed by a 1-2 sec delay,if that is good press in flapper door on right sensor do not block path of infered beam you will not see a beam its invisable.Once you hold in flapper on right sensor the led should be solid. If solid optics are good if not solid led replace optic sensors

Water from the melted evaporator frost is normally drained down to a pan mounted on the compressor . The heat from the compressor is normally enough to vaporize this water. Sometimes the evaporation may be reduced due to- high humidity (in the kitchen). Try keeping the exhaust fan on for a while. Also check if the drain line is blocked or shifted out of the drain pan.

Whirlpool ice maker water line frezees in the frezzer section.

  • usually when this happens the water valve is slowly leaking water. this small amount of water will freeze inside the fill tube for the icemaker; eventually blocking the water flow.
  • you might need to change your water valve going to your icemaker.

I changed the filter and it stopped making ice. I finally discovered that the rubber fill spout had frozen somehow. I heated the tube with my wife's hair dryer and the top of the fridge just above the tube. A pencil sized chunk of ice fell out of the tube and it started making ice again.
