Laptop won't turn on.
After being unplugged and left in a cold car for 9 hours, won't turn on after then plugging into electricity. Has a new battery purchased 6 months ago. Electricity outlet working and checked connection of plug to be sure it's tight but no lights on the computer at all. It has been plugged in overnight but still no lights and won't turn on.Compaq

- Thanks for both of the above suggestions. I did plug it in as soon as I brought it in the house. I'll try taking the battery out and just using the ac power. If that doesn't work I'll assume something shorted and I'll take it for repair. Thanks again.Same Problem

- Having a problem with my hp dv4000, it was working fine the night before. I came home the next day and the thing wont even turn on. When i hit the power button the liilte lightning bolt on the front of the computer lights up but that is all nothing else. Any suggestions?- daveg40152Feb 17, 2008
- I left my laptop in my car for about 20 hours while the temps were quite cold. Since it was unplugged for so long I knew that the battery would have drained so when I brought it back in, I plugged it in right away and hit the power switch. I see no response from my laptop. I was wondering if there are any suggestions. I left it plugged in overnight to see if it would charge, no response. Now I left it outside it's bag, indoors though. Will it warm up and start functioning again or should I just give up on it? Is a repair possible for this case? Thanks- maimoonFeb 13, 2008
- My acer aspire 3690 is just over a year old and was working fine whilst using it. However its started to slow down whilst i was on the internet and when i turned it off an hour or so later i wanted to go back on it but it would turn on, it was fully charged but when i tyurned turning it on, the acer screen comes up but then its says there a fault in the harddrive and wants to check it. I let it do it several time but it doesn't get any further and after a while the screen becomes lite up but black. Can anyone help ?- GuestBest Solution

Did you let the laptop warm up to room temperature for at least an hour before you connected it to the electricity supply?
Since its been in a cold car, condensation can build up inside the laptop which is why sometimes its best to leave it to warm up.
You may have some shorting on the motherboard if it was plugged into the supply as soon as you got it out of the car.

let it still for a while longer, then remove battery and power from unit and then use just the ac power and try it them,
