Can't print from Mac OS 1.5.8 to Sharp MX2300N

I have exactly the same problem. We ordered the PS3 expansion kit. The Sharp guys arrived with this kit but all it contained was a driver for OS 9 and a product key code. They don't know where or how to enter that code and wanted to install the OS 9 driver - which is actually impossible on my MacBook Air. (They've never seen a Mac before) They've gone away looking for more ideas and a 256MB memory expansion card which the software manual says is needed as well as the PS3 kit.
If anyone knows what they should be doing with the product key, I's be pleased to know.

Solved. The PS3 key can be entered by logging onto the machine from any computer on the local network with a web browser or directly from the control panel on the machine itself. The default admin password is "admin".
Test prints going OK so far. We haven't added any extra memory.

You have to enter that code on system seting; admin mode; key product, poscript, enter code and restart the machine.
after that your copier will be able to print poscript.
About your mac i'am sorry i can't help you.

Your request is confusing and lacking details, but I'll try....

The base model 550U has USB and parallel printing capability. Networking comes standard on the 550N but is an add-on option for the 550U in the form of a "print expansion kit" made up of a NIC, 2 flash rom that plug into the main control board, and a product key. If the area where your print ports are located has a network CAT-5 plug, it means your expansion kit is installed, your product key has somehow gotten zapped and you need to re-enter it. The model number for the kit is AR-P19. If you have the P19 box with the registration sheet, the product key may be written on it. Product keys can be obtained online but only a Sharp dealer has access, sorry.

Does your unit have a PS3 expansion kit. if not you can only print using s PC, not a Mac. A work around is to use the Generic PCL driver available on later model Macs

For a Mac to print to the Sharp MX-2300N the Postscript Kit (MX-PKX1) has to be installed on the copier. If that is not installed you will not get any mac to print to it.

We changes our nat addressing from 192.168.1.0 to 192.168.66.0 and for the MX2300N we changed it to 192.168.66.200. We readjusted Mac's and Windows boxes to point to the correct printer. If you print...

Make sure you turn the copier off and back on after changing address or it doesnt fully take affect. If that isnt it try reinstalling the driver.

Printing by SHARP AR M161 on Mac 9.2.2.

Go to printer setup and click on new printer. You should get a long list of printers. Hopefully yours is on the list. Click on the printer name and you will be presented with several drivers. Choose the one that is the best for you. Before you exit print a test page. Give the printer a name.
If this does not work you will have to install the windows driver. This is only possible If your Mac can run windows software.
