Since 4x contains the variable to solve for, move it to the left-hand side of the equation by subtracting 4x from both sides.
6x+6-4x=12
Since 6x and -4x are like terms, add -4x to 6x to get 2x.
2x+6=12
Since 6 does not contain the variable to solve for, move it to the right-hand side of the equation by subtracting 6 from both sides.
2x=-6+12
Add 12 to -6 to get 6.
2x=6
Divide each term in the equation by 2.

I will not try to make sense of the context (there is no a). You have a linear relation between two variables x and s (y). Here is how you find the x- and y-intercepts.
x-intercepts (or zeros, roots).
The x-intercepts are the values of x when y=0. There could be several x-intercepts.
Set y=0 in the relation 90=6x+3(0) or x=90/6=15. Note: for a linear function y=ax+b there is only one x-intercept.x=-b/a

y-intercept. For a function there can only be one y-intercept.
It is the value of y when x=0
Set x=0 in 90=6(0)+3y, This gives y=90/3=30
The coordinates of the points of intersection of the line with the axes are (15, 0) and (0,30).

To find the solution, first find the value of y for each equation.
Then substitue one equation into the other so that you only the x variable left.
Then just solve for x.
Once you have a value for x, then you can easily solve for y.

So for the first equation:

3y - 6x = -3
3y = 6x - 3

y = 2x - 1

Now for the second equation:

2y + 8x = 10
2y = -8x + 10

y = -4x + 5

Since both equations equal y, they also equal each other, therefore:

2x - 1 = -4x + 5

Now just solve for x:

2x + 4x = 5 + 1
6x = 6

x=1

Now substitute x=1 into either original equation:

y = 2x - 1
y = 2 (1) - 1
y = 2 - 1

y = 1

Therefore the solution is x=1 and y=1

### Im trying to use Algebra on the new calculator I bought, as its important for my school use. As an example, I write: 3x+3x and that result is 0? How come? Shouldn't it be 6x?

This calculator cannot do algebra ( manipulating expressions with letter symbols) . It does not have a CAS (computer Algebra System). All it can do is evaluate (find the numerical value of) expressions typed in. If it has the appropriate keys to enter variables such as A,B,C, or X and Y., and you entered an expression with variables it will use the numerical values stored in the variables. If you have not stored anything in a variable, it is given the value 0 by default.
