Sounds like you may have a bad spider gasket in your multiport valve or possibly a weak spring. Do you ever notice water coming out of the backwash while your system is set to filter? Another possibility is your screen on the air relief tube inside the filter is not in place, this will allow debris back into the pool but not alot, most if it would get filtered. Also, make sure your multiport valve is installed correctly and is set to the proper mode. There is a recirculate mode that will allow everything to bypass the filter. The label may even be incorrect.

Where do I begin when replacing sand filter with something great, very updated, but also user friendly & shiny & new. next what do i do about decor tiles falling off by handfuls daily?

Why replace a sand filter in first place. What is the last time you put a bag of sand avaluable at any pool dealer. I added a bag of approved filter sand and it was like I had a new sand filter.
You can also buy a bottle of sand filter cleaner. Put a bottle of it overnight with pool off overnite. Next day backwash and you will be amazed at green algae Walter coming out for first 30 seconds - then nice clear water!
As for why your tiles falling off, need more detaild

At what pressure should you backwash a sand filter

The back pressure at which it's time to backwash a sand filter is about 6-8 psi above the baseline pressure of a clean filter. Just after following the procedure to backwash and rinse your filter, check the sand filter's back pressure at the time you return the pump and filter system back into filter mode. This is the baseline pressure of your clean filter. As the filter gathers particulates from the pool water, the back pressure will rise over time, as indicated on your pressure gauge. Once the pressure reaches 6-8 psi above the baseline, it's time to backwash.

Some advice: Don't assume the baseline pressure will remain the same for your sand filter. The baseline pressure will change over time and when the sand media is replaced. Typicallly baseline pressure will go up slightly over a season due to captured particles that are difficult to backwash out. Use of a filter cleaner will help remove these captured particles.

More advice: Even with the use of filter cleaners and proper backwashing, sand media will not last forever. The constant water flow and movement of particles in the sand over time shears the surface of each little sand grain. Like a river flowing over rocks, over time each sand grain surface is smoothed, and thus its effectiveness for capturing small particles is reduced with ongoing use. A typical rule of thumb is to replace the sand media +/- 5 years. Some pool owners do it more often, some less. It depends on how long your pool season is each year and how much debris the filter much extract from the pool water.

Change sand in tagelus filter

So you have a "TA" filter. Which size?
It does not matter really, otherwise I would have been able to know how much sand you you have to remove and how much to put back in.
Anyway, To change sand you have to remove the MultiPort Dial valve on top.
Then, you can either unplumb the filter and roll it over on its side and using a garden hose, start washing the sand out or use a shop vac, with keeping it upright.
Whatever you do NOT damage the laterals on the bottom of the filter. When refilling with sand you want to make sure all the laterals are undamaged and in the down position. Always fill the filter half full of water, at least over the laterals by a few inches, to keep the sand from damaging the laterals while re-filling the filter with sand. Make sure you use pool filter sand and not play sand! And... cover the stand pipe!!! Use duct tape or some kind of covering (spout cut off a water bottle then covering the pipe). Otherwise you will get sand into the standpipe and into the laterals, then you have another problem.

Pump is blowing cloudy water back into pool

Cloudy water is the bane of sand filters!. I suggest letting filter run day and night. Do not backwash until the pressure rises 8 - 10 pounds above clean starting pressure. Do not try to vacuum or stir up the sediment. when water clears, vacuum to waste. Keep the hose running while vacuuming. A dirty filter is a better filter (up to a point). At a higher pressure the filter will trap more of the fine particles that are clouding your water.

After you backwash the filter do you have to put in a powder through the skimmer?

If you're using a sand filter you don't use diatomite like you do on a DE filter. You should 1. Turn pump off. 2. Move valve to backwash. 3. Allow to back-flush till water is clear (check sight glass). 4 Turn pump off again. 5 Move valve to rinse 6. Turn pump on till water is clear again.7 Turn pump off, return valve to filter. 8 Turn pump back on again. No power is added to a sand filter. There are some materials to "clean" your sand perhaps twice a year, follow the manufacturer's directions for this.

If I DO NOT want to use the self cleaning feature is there any other safe way, including using soap and water, to clean the oven without ruining it? (I don't want to use the self cleaning feature)

Hi,
  1. Oven door : Wash the door and window with soap and water and rinse with clear water. Use glass cleaner only if sprayed on a cloth first. Do not use abrasive pads, powdered cleaners, or steel wool on glass and enamel, or the surfaces will be scratched.
  2. surface burner : To absorb a spill when it is hot, pour salt on it and wipe it up when the oven has cooled. A mildly abrasive baking soda and water paste can be used in the oven, too.
  3. Racks:Remove oven racks and clean them in warm, soapy water. Stubborn messes can be cleaned by using mild abrasive cleansers or a soap filled scouring pad. Rinse and dry the racks before returning them to the oven.
  4. Metal trim:Metal trim can be cleaned with glass cleaners or mild cleansers, soap and water. Abrasives or cleaners made for oven interiors should not be used.
Thanks
Smith.

Dirty water line from filter

Attach flexable rubber line from water bottle, like is used for race bicycle riders,or tape up a hose to a water bottle. Turn off valve at water pipe leadign to line to filter. Remove filter. place a pan to catch water under the machine. Attach A small diameter hose to water line where water exits to glass. With machine turned on and your rubber hose attached turn bottle upside down and squeeze while pressign glass lever. Flush through approximate one quare or until water stream is clear. Their is no pumb ofor flow the line preaure is al that moves the water so backflushing is easy.

Dirty Dishes after dishwasher has finished

You may be getting sand in from the supply lines. Fill a clear glass container from the sink a few times and look at the bottom for sand particles. You may be getting sand from a pool filter? Remove the filter from the faucet head (it should unscrew) and look for sand particles in it. You may not be getting them in the kitchen sink if the dishwater inlets are below the sink as the particles may be sinking to the bottom of the pipes. You may need to put a filter in the dishwasher inlet. Try filling the dishwasher by hand with bottled water once and then see if the sand is still there. If so, it probably comes in through the water supply.
