Cleaned+tested for spark and put back, but it starts only for sec when sprayed with start. fuel. Battery is new and fully charged. When carb apart I can't unscrew emulsion tube it seem to be press-in. Anything else I can do?

Did you just soak the carb or did you disassemble and soak?
If you didn't it might be a good idea because it sound like a stuck float. I would pull the bowl off. If you have done this before then you know .If not then make sure you have a clean are to take this apart. Take your time with separating the bowl and main carb body because the gasket can tear easily. Be careful with the mechanism near the float hinge. There is a small clip that seems to vanish into thin air if you take your eyes off it. Make sure it's clean and reassemble. Now before you put the bowl back on make sure the float moves freely. Reattach it and give it another try. You might want to consider resetting the high and low idle screws also. Start by turning them all the way in then backing them out 1 1\4 turns.
Hope this helps.
If you are still having trouble after trying this let me know.

Honda shaow vt1100 1997 won't start when engine hot, what can I do?

If you have a custom pipes, you have to re jet the carbs, if not, check the spark plugs, if they are wet, change the plugs, if dry - clean carbs.

Why won't my mower start?

This is the biggest problem around. First verify by reading (looking at) your spark plugs. They will either be wet and smell like gas, or dry with not much of a smell. If they are wet either dry/clean them with an air compressor or replace them and retry. I have found that on some machines you will need to not use choke or maybe just a split second of choke. If however, the spark plugs are dry, The gas you are seeing isn't getting through the carb. Easy fix that might work is carb clean the best you can from the outside in, but carb will otherwise have to be removed and cleaned completely. I actually just replaced one for a friend after not being able to clean it fully. (very small holes clogged with gas) Soak the carb in a cleaning solution made for this purpose. If this is your baby get used to this process.

Hard to start half to crank 25 to30 times it is discouraging help

few things to check first i would check my compression with a compression guage most small engines wont start easily if it doesnt have atleast 100 psi anything less makes them very hard to start this will also identify if you have leaking valves stuck valves or piston ring problems ect. next check to see if you have a spark. sometimes the spark plug is the culprit but you can check to see if you have a spark sever ways one is to disconnect the spark plug wire and in sert a phillips screw driver in the clip that holds the tip of the sparkplug and hold the well insulated handle and hold the shaft of the screwdriver near the block or head of the engine and pull the starter you should see and or hear a healthy spark. another way is to get a timing light and a 12 volt battery to power the timing light and connect the battery negative to the block of the engine tested clip the sensor lead on the spark plug wire while its still connected to the spark plug and it should flash when you pull the starter rope. or you can get a spark tester a good one has a neon light in it and a ground clip hold the spark tester to the sparkplug wire and it should flash as you crank the engine. if you have compression and spark next check your carb. assuming it has fresh good gasoline with no water in the gas your carb may be gunked up, clogged with trash or stuck float. remove carb and dissasemble starting with the bowl make sure its clean in there and the float and float valve isnt sticking then get a torch tip cleaner and ron the fine cleaning wires in ever orifice you can find. pull the main jet clean the tiny holes in it and spray carb cleaner in the carb body and parts. if it has adjustable jets pull them and clean. use compressed air to clean it out also. do not pull the welch plugs just yet if you do you will have to get a repair kit and takes some skill and patience to replace. reassemble carb carefully make note of were all the parts and pieces come from and replaces them. before removing adjustable jets count how many turns it takes to screw them in and only lightly seat them so when you pull them out you may return them to were they were originally adjusted. there are tiny holes near the butterfly throttle plate in the throat of the carb make sure they are clean and clear. if it is really gunked up there is carb dip but do not soak longer than recommended on the can as it will dissolve brass and ruin your carb. if you still cannot get it to run or run right. you can buy a new carb on ebay recheck valves or just bring the darn thing to a professional. good luck!

Sounds like I have a fuel starvation problem with my mountfield mascot mower. How do I clean the carb?

hmm looks like a brigs .. take air cleaner of and start taking pictures or write how the linkage is routed . use part master carb and choke cleaner part # 1736 get 2 cans. my fav .a small wire brush. and a torch tip cleaner NAPA AUTO PARTS will have one of these.. next spray the carb off while still bolted to motor next loosen bolts that hold cab 2 motor (counter clockwise ) say about 2 full turns, spray again let soak 2 min spray again let sit 1 min. now with the handle of a screw driver hit the carb with the handle in a few different spots, this shock will loosen the grip of the paper gaskets if it has them and this way you don't need 2 buy a carb kit .. kool huh.. take off any rubber o-rings, gaskets set them in the sun to dry use the torch tip cleaner ti clean out any holes in jets you can find (look close ) a air compressor is nice but not needed use the spray and were safty glasses yes it sucks 2 get carb cleaner in you eyes BAD ! when taking needle screws out COUNT THE TURNS norm is 1 1/2 .. let carb dry for 10 min. and reassemble.. 1 more thing clean out the gas tank dump the gas , use a coat hanger and a rag as a mop to sweep the inside of the gas tank clean and dry of any water .fuel filter needs to be cleaned or replaced . check oil if it smells like gas replace it.. file her tank up with (marine gas best ) and it should start on the first PULL ... now here is how you fix your 2 STROKE MOTORCHECK THE SCREEN ON OUTPUT OF THE MUFFLER. ITS CALLED A SPARK ARRESTOR, THESE GET OIL FOULED AND MAKE EM A BEAR TO RUN . CLEAN IT UP AND SHE WILL RUN LIKE A CHAMP, THE CARB MIGHT NEED REBUILDING ,FUEL FILTER AND A SPARK PLUG IS THE FIRST THING TO REPLACE . . IF'N I WAS ANY HELP VOTE FOR ME ...THANKS.. JAY == MOTORWIZJ

Is the spark plug too wet?
Probably theres too much fuel going into the combustion chamber, try to reduce the amount of fuel in the float chamber by first closing the petcock at the tank thn open up the fuel outlet screw at around the carburator float, just a little, close it up, remove the spark plug and clean it dry, refit it and try to start the engine..., adjust the idling screw a little inwards to increase the idling ..thn open up the petcock and observe the running of the engine ..if it starts to puut ..puut thn its for sure there is more fuel going in thn required may hve to adjust the float.
Not bad to check if the carburator at the intake mounting is fitted right wth no air going through inbetween the carb and the intake mounting.
Hope this helps!

Starts and runs for 3 to 4 seconds and then turns off.

Most probable cause is a gummed up carberator or a fouled out spark plug. Make sure plug is getting plenty of spark by removing it, plug back onto wire, lay on top of engine block, pull motor over, check to see if there is good spark and plug is not wet or grey or burnt.
Carbs can get gummed up when a bottle of "stabil" isn't used during season storage times. It will have to be removed, dismantled, soaked in solvent for couple hours, air blown dry, Including floats and jets. When reassembled, check that carb needle and seat are not warped and need replacement. Make sure the air filter is not filty,

The carburetor jets are plugged. Complete disassembly & soaking in carburetor cleaner then re install parts after rinsing off & drying them. Make sure all ports are open. Torch tip cleaner is helpful.

84 kawasaki voyager bike has sat up for 2 years. has low spark & fuel but will not start once in awhile it will pop or back fire.

fuel problem :
first try starting fluid spray can. if runs very short time, then carburetors are gummed up...need re-jetting or remove and buy a gallon of carb solvent and soak carbs for a day then shake out vigorously then air blow dry with compressor then retry

low spark...could be dirty plugs-clean them- or worse may be bad spark unit...try removing spark unit and pull away from chassis then re-attach wires and try....if ok spark, then unit is grounding out to chassis on rear mounting surface...look at back for small cracks in black plastic on unit.
