Mac OS has a system restore...kinda. It's called "Archive and Install",
where it re installs the OS from the CD/DVD and keeps your apps. It
archives the old System and Library folders in case there's anything
you want to fish out.
That's more like repairing an install in Windows.
or you can use "Time Machine backup"
