Question about Kenmore 63942 Dryer
My dryer will not start, when I turn the time setting switch and press the start buttom it does not start. I can here a humming noise when I turn the time switch. But nothing happens. I hope that you can tell me what is wrong with it.
It is probably the thermal fuse that is bad. This has detected a hot condition in the exhaust vent of the dryer and blown. It is an easy and cheap fix to replace it.

When you turn the select knob, you set up the internal cams of the timer. when you press to start or pull to start, you energize the timer motor (buzz) the timer opens the water solenoids. the diaphragm switch senses the water level and moves the timer to the next step. agitate starts for the timed cycle. when its finished the motor kicks in in opposite direction to drain and pump water out.
