Ok, calm down a bit.

The cord usually has 2 parts on it, a small part (used to connect to the camera) and the larger part (used to connect to your computer).

What your looking for on your computer is called USB port, its rectangular.
On your camera they usually have a plastic plug over it, read your manual and look where the port is. Usually its on the side or bottom of the camera.

When all is found connect them and plug it in your computer. It should take a couple seconds to a few minutes for your computer to recognize it. Then go to My Computer > New Drive (example F: (Nikon) or something simular)

===========
SD/HC card

You will need a SD or SDHC card, this is usally inserted by the side. This card is much more efficent then the usb cable and is much faster to use. And you will need a card reader, usually they are built in your computers now, or you can buy one, usually cost range from 10-20usd. Like the usb it will take a couple seconds/minute but its quick pop in and out unlike the usb.

How do I know what f stop and shutter speed my camera used after a picture was already taken? I need the information for a photography class. It shows it when the picture is being taken but I didn't...

All of that data is stored with the picture. Transfer your pictures to your computer. Any competent photo cataloging program will show you the data. For example, in Nikon ViewNX2 if you double-click a picture, you'll see it larger and with a panel to the right showing the data.

I have a nikon coolpix s60 and when i go to view the pictures, the screen turns black and i cant turn the camera off unless i pull the battery

What name brand memory card do you use? I recently discovered myself that Nikon only supports SanDisk, Toshiba, Panasonic and Lexar. Try taking out the memory card and take pictures without the memory card inside the camera. If you can view the picture saved onto the camera memory then you will know that all you need is a new memory card, with one of the above mentioned name brands. Hope this helps.

Coolpix Camera getting hot

It sounds like you are shooting in RAW..try shooting in Fine or less. RAW format, demands more from the cameras battery, and it can heat up.

What software are you using now? You can download the latest version of Nikon Transfer from http://support.nikontech.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/61

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive.

In addition to Nikon Transfer there are plenty of other photo catalog software packages out there, some free, some not, that can transfer and catalog your pictures so you can quickly find pictures from Susie's birthday party, for example. Just do a google search for "photo catalog software".
