Question about Haier 42EP24S 42 in. EDTV-Ready Plasma Television
DO NOT BUY THIS TV!!! I bought the unit from Sears--a trusted I had the TV only a few months before I started having problems with it. It would first black out. When I first called Haier, they said it was a cable problem. My cable carrier 'helped' me to regain my picture a time or two, but that was only because the TV had perhaps cooled back down. By the time the TV was about a year old, it blacked out totally with no sound...Just in time to miss the warranty. However, because of my phone calls to Haier, they went ahead and honored the warranty, only for Sears to install a bad repair kit that never worked (to stop the overheating). By then I'd bought a new TV and didn't use the Haier because it needs a cable box to work. So when I let a friend help me out, he said the TV wasn't working, and Sears refused to pay for the repair because 90 days had elapsed...Ninety days that they never told me about! The TV is trash. Do not purchase this unit. I won't be purchasing anything from Haier ever again. Also, think twice about purchasing anything from Sears...They won't support a bad product since they can just dump it on their unknowing customers.
I finally recieved my 12 pin long wire harnes , that was not included with the upgrade kit . IT TOOK SIX MONTHS TO GET ,AND IT WAS THE WRONG PART, NOW HAIER PARTS ARE TELLING ME IT COULD TAKE ANOTHER SIX MONTHS TO GET THE RIGHT PART! lest get a class action lawsuit going. the tv was defective to begin with , I paid about $200.00 for the upgrade kit that was supposed to be the fix . Now I have a $1100.00 + the $200.00 coat rack. Lets sue the bastards!!!!!

You need to spell it out to the Sears Representatives...There is a "service flash" for this model, tell them to look it up and then you will not be charged for service and replacement of parts. We spent 3 hours on the phone before we found out this information.

Please, lets have that customer service number for Haier America. I'm about to start calling and bugging them to send me this missing EEprom. I've got nothing else to lose at this point right?

Too bought a Haier Plasma 42EP24S ,it stopped working after 7 months -I moved and did not touch it for the next five months
while searching for another tv to replace it- I came apon this site .
the tv was out of warrenty by both sears and haeir
well after reading these posts I called haier america and complained they in turn extended my warrenty and a sears rep came on 5 differant times and replaced all the boards inside tv with no luck - so after putting in over $1400.00 in parts an repair into a $1200.00 tv they wanted to start replacing boards again
I refused and kept complaining to several differant reps at sears
[they told me it was haeirs responsabilty not thiers] I don't know haw many times I explained to them that sears sold me the tv not haeir so stand behind what you sell -well after alot of calls and persistance sears replaced my tv free of charge with credt for a new tv for exactly what I paid
SO DONT BUY ANY PARTS OR PAY FOR ANY SERVICE IF YOU BOUGHT THIS TV AND ARE HAVING PLOBLEMS
be persistant untill its either fixed or replaced
