Dryer could be overheating and tripping the thermal safety switch. Make sure that the moisture vent hose, lint screen, and pipe going to the outside are not restricted. These things will cause a dryer to overheat and clothes to get hot but stay damp.

See if you can reposition the thermister on the facing of the evaporator coils. That could be it or the thermister might be bad. They don't use copper/mercury sensing bulbs these days. They use these cheap thermisters.

Stops working after 5 mins

make sure it has a good airflow around it, check the vents to see they are not blocked off by some object or dust. I suspect the safety sendor is turning the unit off to perevent overheating.

Microwaves that are contained in nooks and cabinets suffer from this problem regularly

Dryer runs then stops after short periods (5-10 mins)

THere maybe a thermal limit sensor gone bad. Keeps the dryer from over-heating. Located behind rear panel on most and mounted on the heat tube. Verify with volt/ohm meter if possible

Over heated hover

Hi there, I’ve got a upright Hoover and it cuts out after about 5 mins I think it’s over heated but if i leave it for 5 mins it works again but cuts of again how can i fix it?

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. It is possible that you my have a heat sensor, but as far as what you described you need to change both belts, the brushroll belt and the power drive belt as well and @ the same time. The average belt change is every 4 to 6 months on the vacuum. Does it stop completely or is it just the belt problem. Or #2 is the vacuum giving off a burning smell other than the belts and if it does it could be the motor. Other wise , please call the factory or a local Hoover warranty station in your area. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
