Question about Pioneer DVR-540HX DVD Recorder/HDD Recorder
The hard frive on my DVR-450H-S freezes up as well. This seems to be a known problem by the manufacturer, Nevertheless, they want to charge me a whoppy $250(!) for the replacement. The unit is only 1.5 years old.
Is this a highway robbery or what.....?
Good advice here, quite simple. http://forum.videohelp.com/topic372123.html

Well if it is out of warranty and there is no recall then you do not have much choice. How much does it cost for a new DVR with a warranty? Might be better to spend the extra money and get a new one with a warranty. If you have them repair it make sure they give you at least a 1 year warranty on it and not 90 days. And make sure the warranty covers parts and labor.
