When you power up the machine, continue to hold down the power button past the initial beeps and wait for a beep after about 3 seconds. This will flip it from HDMI to default video output. It makes no other changes to the PS3 except default video output. You might have to cycle the power on the TV as my Samsung kills the AV input from the PS3 when it is not sending AV.

The new AV cable will not fit into the slot in the ps3. Used a regular composite cable prior to trying the new HD cable.

connect the hdmi as normal , then use the composite cable to the headset and in audio output settings enable audio multi out , that will output audio to both the hdmi and composite audio jacks .

Ps3 80 gig pixalated on hd screen beond reading.

That is usually a problem with the motherboard graphics chip. You would need a motherboard gpu reflow. To check this, connect a non dhmi cable to see if the same problem occurs,

My ps3 does not work after i used the hdmi cable on my friends new t.v. when i came back to my house i put in back on my older tv to use the regular cable and the screen is just black. what could be wrong...

This is because the PS3 is trying to outpur in Digital... you have to reset the video output to work on your analog tv again... try this.

turn the unit off... if it is on hold the power button on the unit.

while the unit is off hold the power button untill it beeps, then go into the setup and reset the proper settings for your tv.

Ps3?

Check the couplings at either end of the cable. Sometimes these will loosen and can cause a lack of signal strength.

but its probably not the cable, its probably the ps3. HDMI cables don't really break because they are just wires, they don't have moving parts. Try connecting your PS3 to your TV with the regular cable red, white, and yellow connectors that you got when you bough the PS3. If the PS3 doesn't work with the original red, white, and yellow connectors then you know its the PS3. If the PS3 does work fine, you know its either the HDMI cable (still unlikely) or the HDMI connection on your TV or PS3 (more likely

No connection on ps3 to t.v.

try resetting your video settings.....see if this helps, otherwise you could have a bad video cable or PS3.
Hook up your origional cable that came with Ps3..the red, yellow, white one.

1. Turn off PS3 with switch on back
2. Turn switch back on. Red light should be on.
3. press and hold power button for approx 8 seconds till multi beeps are heard. Turn off and back on. See if you get a pic...If not your ps3 might be broken, or bad video cable.

Hdmi

I can't be exactly sure without more information, but it sounds like you ps3 is outputting from another port. My ps3 originally was outputting from the component/composite cable port so in order to use the hdmi output I had to do a soft reset. That makes the ps3 sense what cable is plugged into it and automatically output through that port instead of using whatever is the saved setting.

With your ps3 turned on hold down the power button for a few second until it beeps and flashes 3 times (should be about 5 seconds). You might have to try it a few times to get it to work, but you should get picture and be able to adjust the settings on the ps3.
