1. Perform a soft reset first. It usually do not affect your personal data on your device.

  • Use an unfolded paper clip, or the reset tool at the tip of your stylus.
  • Gently press and release the RESET button inside the hole on the back panel of your device.
  • After a soft reset, a logo screen appears, followed shortly by a Preferences screen asking you to set time and date.
  • All data on your device should be retained. If you do lose data after a soft reset, you may have a more serious issue with your hardware that requires a repair.
2. System Reset. It tells your device to stop what it's doing and start over again, bypassing any system extensions. This can help you with "boot loop" errors, allowing you to remove any recently installed third-party applications that might be causing the problem.
  • Use an unfolded paper clip, or the reset tool at the tip of your stylus. Gently press and release the RESET button inside the hole on the back panel of your device while pressing and holding the UP button on the front panel of your device.
  • Press and hold the UP button until the Palm Powered screen appears.
  • You must perform a soft reset if the system reset fixed the problem.

I have a palm z22 Pda the tochksrceen is no working

There are several answers listed in Fixya under Z22 and touchpad or touch screen. You can start by trying to clean under the edges of the face frame with a credit card or something similar. If that doesn't work, try a soft reset by pushing the reset button on the back of the device. If that doesn't work, you can do a hard reset, but it loses all the data in the device. If you have it stored on your desktop calendar, this might solve the problem. To do a hard reset, check this site for instructions. http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/42094_en.html

If those steps don't work, you may need to replace the digitizer. You can pay someone to do it, or you can buy the part on ebay for about $12. Get one that comes with the tools you will need. Unfortunately, they don't come with instructions. I have posted the instructions in several places on Fixya. If you can't find them, write again. Hopefully the easier steps will do the trick.

My Palm Z22 won't turn on. If I do a hard reset

It absolutely won't, you don't have to worry. I've done it several times, and I know I was really nervous at first, but it's fine.

My z22 Palm will not keep a charge and after a day

The battery needs to be replaced. They are sold on Ebay but if you need to do any kind of soldering then the best bet is to take it in and have it done by an authorized repair. It is worth the little extra you will pay.

Best wishes.

Time change killed palm

If thatn doesn't work, put your palm aside for a week allowing battery to completely drain. Repeat procedure after a full charge. If this is helpful please post as such.

Palm Z22 won't sync, USB Device Not Recognized

The Z22 is very well designed to PROTECT your stored data - do NOT do a RESET, since this has nothing to do with your problem! It sounds like your USB cable is damaged- a very common problem, usually one of the 4 or 5 wires near one end of the cable or the other, breaks inside the plastic covering, and you loose connectivity. The "OLD" Style USB end that plugs into the Z22 is getting difficult to find, since it has been replaced with the smaller "MICRO" version, available everywhere (As of 2014 ! ) It is available online very inexpensively.
I have a full page of information on the Z22, and how to repair, take-apart, maintain, and connect it. It is at:
kidbots.com/WEBADD/Z22_PALM_PILOT/Z22_PALM_PILOT.html
I hope that this information helps you to get your
Z22 up and running again.

good luck

Palm Z22 will not turn on

I had this problem in the very beginning and a few times after. What worked is the following.
Put it to charge for at least half an hour. You won't see it is charging or anything.
Then, while connected to the charger, press the reset button.
Have you guys tried it like this already?
