Question about Polaris Vac Sweep_ 380 Suction Side In Ground Automatic Pool Cleaner without Booster Pump

1 Answer

My Polaris back up valve pulls too hard; the whole unit is pulled from one side of the pool to the other and then the hose gets tangled up. Is there a way to reduce the pull?

It doe's not adjust but you should make sure it is in the right spot. It should be just after the first hose away from the wall at about 18". If it is in that spot it can't pull to far.

What is a backup valve

Should be located one hose length back from cleaner head. Sort of tear drop shaped in-line with the hose. It has a gear inside that changes water flow so the unit will lift off pool bottom every couple minutes in case it gets stuck in a corner.

My backup valve seems to be suirting a small stream of water all the time. This appears to be keeping the Polaris from going down on all wheels and turning up on it's side a lot.

Your back up valve probably needs the internals replaced. With the backup stuck in one position the water bleeding from it keeps the head from getting enough power to rite itself. While the leak pulls back on the head to make it worse. This is a simple unit to replace. Open the back up valve and the internals just drop out, then a new one just drops in.

My polaris hose keeps getting tangle.

If you have stored your automatic pool cleaner with the hose coiled, this is probably what is causing the problem. Lay the hose out flat and stretch it slightly. Let it sit in the sun for several hours and it should help to straighten in. You should also not store your cleaner with the hose coiled. If you are talking about your sweep hose getting tangled, you might need to adjust it, lower your RPM, or add sweep hose weights.

No My polaris hose keeps getting tangled up, how do I fix it.

Remeasure the pool cleaners hose to verify that it is adjusted to the proper length for the pool shape. With the Polaris operating, check that the swivels in the hose and the hose connections turn freely. Make sure feed hose is floating. With the Polaris turned off, spin each of the wheels. All wheels should turn together.

My polaris keeps getting tangled up. How dod I fix this?

If the hose on these pool cleaners is becoming tangled, there are a couple things you will want to check. Remeasure the hose to verify that it is adjusted to the proper length for your pool shape. With the cleaner operating, check that the swivels in the hose and the hose connections turn freely. Make sure the feed hose if floating. Then, with the Polaris turned off, spin each of the wheels. Make sure they are all turning together and adjust if they are not.

The hose connected on the interior of the polaris could be disconnected. seperate the housing and you will see the hose. Or you need more pressure at the wall. Try closing are reducing the amount of flow to the skimmers to up the flow at the wall connection. Your back up valve should pull the polaris off the steps. Set the rotating jet propulsion on rear to 11: 00 position.

My polaris runs but there is no suction. Any recommendation?

Inside the part where the bag clicks onto the large circle outlet on the top are two little valves. Sometimes these get clogged by algae. Use a thin wooden skewer to poke the algae through then replace your line hose onto the pool return. Everything should work now.
