Problem connecting camera to computer through usb2 port

I have an Olympus c750 which I download onto a computer running Windows XP. Recently the computer has developed a habit of not recognising the camera when it is plugged into the usb2 port. It will accept the camera about 25% of the time and no amount of turning off and reconnecting of either machine seems to help. Any help appreciated.

Since the download from camera to computer works 25% of the time, the problem might be in your USB cable or the connectors. Try wiggling the cable and the connectors while trying to download and see if this helps. Or try a USB cable that you know is good. Good luck.

Why not get a card reader and use that to download your pictures from the Xd card to the computer?

The software drivers are different n Windows 8.1, you can either get an update for it, or just use it on the XP. USB2 is irrelevant.

You have just answered your own question, it works fine on a XP machine, but not on Windows 8.1, you need updated drivers to run this on windows 8.1, contact the manufacturer.

I recently changed to a windows vista computer and the installation software that came with my Olympus camera is not installing properly. It shows that its there but it won't detect my camera when...

The CD provided may not have seperate driver for vista.
1.Try downloading the latest drivers for vista from Olympus website.
2.or Before running the setup.exe from CD, right click it -> properties. In that Compactibility tab, select the check box "Run in compactible with " and select windows XP in the list. After that try reinistalling the driver by running the setup.exe in CD

Device not ready

CNET's review states that this camera connects to USB, but no mention is made of it being compatible with USB2. Theoretically it should be compatible since USB2 ports are supposed to be backwards compatible with USB 1.1. Yet I have other USB 1.1 devices which will cause "device not ready" error messages when I try to connect them to a USB2 port. Interestingly, the CNET article doesn't list Windows XP as a compatible OS. Another person posted that he received the same error message when trying to connect his camera to his 64-bit XP computer.

In any event, Largan's web site doesn't make any mention of them producing complete cameras -- only camera components. Perhaps their foray into the digital camera market was less than successful.

So, while this isn't truly a solution post, perhaps it may point you in the right direction as to possible causes of the device not ready error message.

Need software to use me C-3030ZOOM for Windows XP

The camera is a standard serial and USB connect camera and what we Olympus recommends for XP users as well as their new software is to look into purchasing a smartmedia card reader that connects to USB port so that you are able to transfer images using the reader as opposed to connecting camera to PC. The camera connection is not truly XP compliant.
