Does not connect to computer

I have never had a problem with my camera for the year or so that I have had it until last night. I tried to download some new pictures onto my computer but it would not connect. I tried moving the USB cable to another slot but still nothing. I did notice that the USB had a slightly loose connection to the camera. Any ideas!

I am trying to download pictures from camera to computer. just did it night before last and it worked. now it will not download.

You neglected to specify the make and model of your camera so I'm assuming it uses a memory card of some type.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Canon powershot sd 1000, memory card not detected

Hi,

Please try to copy all the contents of your SD card to your computer. Then format the SD card and try it again on your camera.

If it still can't be detected, try another SD card.

1. Forget about getting the computer to recognize the camera. Do what the pros do...use a card reader instead of the camera and download to a folder you create on the desktop. 2. Sorry, but "format" completely erases the card with no hope of retrieval. typrice_192.jpg

If you've first tried the DISP button, AND also verified that your downloaded pictures are not also black like the screen, then it's probably just a loose flex cable connection. Please see this other post for info on how to correct the problem.

Canon zoombrowser Ex downloading problem

Try updating the Zoombrowser software.

If you have a connection to the camera, go into my computer and get images directly off the camera using scanner and camera wizard, microsoft's default program. This will at least allow you to transfer your images until you can resolve the software problem.

If you have no connection to the camera via your computer, you need to try some other troubleshooting steps to get a connection. I will post those below in the next post.
