Question about Bosch 1274DVS 3" x 21" Belt Sander

Bosch 3 x 21 Belt Sander

I've also got the Bosch Belt Sander issue - no sawdust in the bag. I didn't quite understand the fix you suggested... Blow into the dust exhaust port with compressed air?

Remove the dust bag and unplug sander for now. Everywhere you see an access hole (fan area, dust port, back of sander blow thru the tool to remove lodged dust that clogged the system, Also look for broken belt pieces in the back of sander. Then while running (remove belt) blow again thru all the ports to try and reomve as much contamination as possible. When finished you can feel to see if air coming from dust bag port, it not you still have a clog that might need more work. If I have clarified your request would you please rate this response accordingly and thank you.

Ryobi BE318-2 dust bag don't work

The pathway that the dust follows to reach the bag is most likely clogged. Take the bag off and look inside to see if there's sawdust plugging the orifice. If there is then you could vacuum out the dust or simply start up the sander and let the machine clear itself. If you do the latter just know that you will create a cloud of dust so do it in the proper environment.

I have acquired a makita 9924db belt sander, but not a manual. The dust bag is wide open on the bottom - shouldn't there be some sort of device on it to keep the dust in? Also, I would like to know...

there is usually a plastic clip that slides over the bottom to seal the bag, as for the manual go to "makitausa.com" and you can download a manual from there. Let me know if you need more assistance.

The sawdust is not going to the bag. I've completely blown my sander with air and tried to unclog anything without taking the sander apart, but still all sawdust stays on the belt and not going up the...

The dust bags on most sanders are only marginally effective. They work OK on random orbit sanders with the holes in the sanding pad, but are next to useless on belt sanders. You might try attaching a vacuum cleaner hose instead of the bag. On the other hand, if the the belt is clogging up, that's not going to be helped by attaching a vacuum hose. The belt is "loading" up probably because the material you are sanding is damp, or maybe you are sanding paint, which tends to melt then stick to the belt. If you are just trying to keep the belt from clogging (or unclogging it), rather than keeping the dust contained, try running the belt against a wire brush after every couple of minutes. Good luck, Al K

Sawdust does not collect in bag but remains on wood that is worked on. Have tried to locate problem (probably blockage but have not found cause or remedy)

Best way to clear the vacuum path: remove the sanding belt and collection bag. Use an airhose to blow compressed air through the opening where the bag attaches to blow out anything that may be in the airway. After blowing through the outlet, check around the rear of the drive pulley for any wood that may have to be picked out. Reattach everything and try it again. If it still doesn't work, the vacuum is driven by a fan on the end of the armature. You'll have to take the case apart and check that to see if the fan blades have broken off or the fan has come lose from the armature.

Dust blows out a top right vent and covers my face

Look for debris or sawdust buildup in the fan shroud. This is the part that looks like a semi-circle and connects to the dust bag. Also check the main housing of the unit.
Sawdust builds up over time and moisture and humidity turns it into something like a really loose stucco, you won't have any difficulty in cleaning it out just a rag will work. In the future you can throw some desiccant packs in the case or the drawer where it is stored and it will increase the time between needed cleanings.
Desiccant packs are those little packs you find in new product packaging that says 'Do not eat' all over it'. It just helps absorb excess moisture. I have a little box in my shop where i save these things when i buy something new. I toss a couple in pretty much every drawer of my toolbox and it's helped keep all of my tools in god shape.

Dust bag won't collect

Try blowing through the little **** that collects sawdust (inside back by belt) with a compressed air nozzle, with the bag off, and squeeze the trigger and let the motor run a little. Blow out the insides as well as you can, including the air intakes for the cooling of the motor, and it should work fine again.
You can also blow out the bag to clean the pore in the fabric.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread. If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take a moment to kindly rate this post....thanks!
