That usually means the slide switch on the side of the card is in the locked position.

Hi,

To remove the write protect lock, take the memory card out of the camera, face the card towards you, look for a small white tab on the left hand side of the card, to unlock it push the tab up to unlock it, it will be at the side of the card like this I tried taking pictures and a message comes up on - 59a6de4.jpg .

Regards.

SOURCE: MY a550 polaroid camera is saying card protected on the screen

When you take the card out, you are storing the pictures on the camera's extremely small internal memory. Is the slide switch on the side of the card in the unlocked position?

SOURCE: Fujifilem Z20fd I cant turn the card protection off which appears

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

Is your flash working? Do you have the flash turned on?

You neglected to specify the model of your Olympus camera so I'm assuming it's one of those that use SD/SDHC cards.

Every time I turn on my camera a message appears on the screen that says "write protect". What is "write protect" and how do I get rid of the message?

1) It could be your camera has write protect switched on. Go through your camera's menu and look for picture protect and remove it.

2) Your SD card could be write protected. Take out the SD card and check, there's probably a sliding notch on the left hand side, move the to write enable.

Write protect message appears on screen

Sounds as if the memory card may be corrupted. In order to remove the write protect, make sure you have downloaded and saved all of the images from the memory card to your computer and then having the card in the camera you will need to run the format option and this will permanently remove the write protect as well as all of the images from the card.
The card should be able to be used again after the write protect is removed.

the problem isnt with your camera, its your memory card, and it isnt a problem at all. simple solution- take out your memory card, and on the side there is a tiny switch. all you gotta do is flip the switch. quick and easy. hope that helps anyone.

Hi,

Check to see if the lock tab has been put in the lock position. If yes then slide to the unlock position.
