Rechargeable batteries do not last forever. Two to three years is the normal lifespan. Buy a new battery.

Will not switch on

Let's start with your battery. It could be bad, the camera's charging circuit could have failed or the electrical contacts on the battery or in the camera could be dirty.
Start by cleaning the contacts. I find that a clean pencil eraser works quite well. If that does not work, consider the age of your battery. Rechargeable batteries do not last forever. They are rated for a certain number of charge/discharge cycles and they may or may not meet the specification. Your battery could be old and cannot hold a charge; in which case you need to buy a new EN-EL5 battery.
The other possibility is that the charger circuit in your camera is not longer functional. If it has gone bad, the cost of repair might not be justified. Instead, I would buy an external charger. The Nikon battery charger you need is model MH-61. Nikon's price is $27.95, but you can probibly find one for less.

Your battery has probably expired...;they only take so many charges. Try a new one (before you buy it!)

Battery exhausted won't charge

even new batteries can die. I only can advice you to try to start a charge cycle a few times in a row, but if the charger does not indicate it is charging, I'm afraid you really have to buy a new battery.
I have a Nikon battery that is almost 3 years off age and in the camera it says capacity 100% NEW. But it is used on a regular base and charged regular.

I accidentally left my EN-EL14 Ultra High Capacity Li-ion battery on the charger for 24 hours at least - is it toast? The manual that came with my Nikon D3200 says leaving a fully-charged battery on the...

Does the battery pack work? Leaving it on the charger for 24 hours shouldn't hurt the pack (too much) since the charger shuts off when the pack is fully charged. The most likely result would be a slight reduction in the capacity, but it should still work.

You shouldn't need to order another battery pack unless it no longer works.

NIKON MH26 BATTERY CHARGER BLINKING GREEN LIGHTS

A blinking green light means the charger is charging the battery. A steady green light (same LED) means that charging is complete. If the light never stops blinking and we assume that your charger is working correctly, you may have a defective battery. Rechargeable batteries do not last forever. After a few years, there ability to take and hold a charge declines. It may be time to buy a new battery.

Your battery may be worn out and is unable to get re-charged. Buy a new battery for your camera, or try your battery in a matching camera to verify that it is depleted, if so try a new/other battery in your camera to verify that you need a new battery.

Hi, It almost sounds like the battery won't hold a charge anymore which means you need a new battery. Since the camera isn't quite a year old yet I'd suggest contacting Nikon and seeing if they'll do anything for you before you buy a new battery.
