I am preparing a short tour in France, using MapSource and Zumo 550. Transfer of the route files is a problem. I tried to transfer all 11 files, one at a time but none appeared in Zumo. I copied them onto the SD card as well - still nothing. The only PARTLY successful way seems to be to transfer one at a time, unplug the USB cable and switch the Zumo on again. If I'm lucky the route 'takes' - but not always. What am I doing wrongly? Is my Zumo a dud?

Try skipping the installation wizard and use your coupon code to unlock the maps/GPS online at Garmin's website.
Also if you downloaded the mapsource software online, the download may have been corrupted. You may have to contact garmin tech support to try another download.

The above did not work for me but this did - download the Mapsource update. Here's the link:

Hmmm, I think the routes are supposed to be on the device memory, like trip logs. You should have like 130 MB of free storage on the device...

Yust go to www.mapwel.biz/down.htm get software MapUpload and now you can upload any map to micro sd card without loosing your existing map.
