My screen has shrunk on my HP Pavillion DV2000, I dropped it about 1 foot at the time it was fine but when I turned the laptop on after a day or so the screen had shrunk to the top left corner of the screen.
have you tried: -> On your desktop (where you have My Computer; My Network Places; ect) right click on the screen off any icons. -> Click on Properties -> Clickon Settings -> What does your screen resolution state... if you change this it will change the size of your desktop screen. This might help out. If you plug the power cord and the led still blinking, disconect everything, turn your laptop and search how to take out the battery, wait 1 minute then replug it again and try.
1 long beep followed by two short beeps is usually indicative of a failed/failing display adapter. On something as.... rustic as your dv2000 it can be fixed.... but probably would see better value from just replacing the unit.
There is a known problem with the video card in this machine, certain models are covered by an extended HP warranty. Symptoms are overheating and finally not starting at all.

well, try hooking it up to an other screen and see if it boots up,if it does your screen has taken a flop if it doesn't your viedo card is gone. lala linda
