Question about Gateway T-1625 Notebook
When I press the power button, the fan comes on and the hard drive spins. The system does not begin the
posting process and the screen is blank. The power button pilot light
comes on and stays on. The behavior is the same whether I power up under battery or
charger cord. I tried hooking up to an external monitor, but no image
appears. I replaced the memory sticks and tested the hard drive on another laptop. I finally replaced the motherboard, using the same CPU. The problem remains the same.
At this point, can I assume the problem is a dead CPU?
Yes, if the CPU/motherboard will not POST (Power On Self Test), then changing the CPU is the only thing that you have not tried.
