Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

I have a Sony PCG-C1VN, running Windows ME. Problem with the display -- at power-on, everything seems fine, but I can only get the screen to show an area 680x400; native resolution is supposed to be 1024x400. I've got a usable square of display with 1.5 inches of black dead space on either side. I have updated the BIOS and display drivers, to no avail. I do not have the recovery CDs (bought the computer used). If I set the desktop resolution (using Display Properties) to anything greater than 680x400, desktop scrolling kicks in but I don't actually get more visible space. (Also, Desktop Properties does not offer a 1024x400 resolution.)

Try this. 1. Close all programs and make sure no background tasks are running, such as virus scanners, task schedulers, or any other programs that run in the task bar. 2. Verify that the correct monitor driver is installed. This can be determined by going to: Start » Settings » Control Panel » Display » Settings » Advanced » Monitor 3. The Monitor tab should say either "Plug and Play Monitor" in the "Monitor type" area or it should list the manufacturer and model number. If something else is shown, click the "Change..." or "Properties" button to select the correct monitor. If the monitor is not listed, contact the monitor manufacturer for an updated monitor driver (or monitor INF file). 4. Do a clean reinstall of the graphics drivers by going through the following steps. 5. In Display Properties, change the display adapter type to standard VGA. 6. Reboot.Install the graphics drivers according to the instructions in the readme file. Curtorsey: Intel

My Sony All in One PC with 16:9 screen is now only displaying in 4:3 ratio. Where's the button to change it back - the card seems fine (except running in 4:3 format).

usually a function key like Fn (lower left)+F6 depending on your laptop. otherwise go to your display properties and change from there.

No lights and screen is black seems dead.

Try reseating the RAM modules.
If that doesn't work, remove the battery and power it up without the battery, if it works reconnect the battery whilst it is still running.

Try Holding The Screen Up to A Bright Light And Look at it from an angle to see if you can see windows running without the light.... If you can..... The Problem Is Either Your LCD Bulb (needs Replacing) or It's the Power Inverter....

If.. You See No OS Running .. Just Black You Could Need Either A New Display ... or your Video Card/Chip is Shot...
Try Connecting an external Monitor if able to..... If It SHows Up On An External Monitor then Your Video Card/CHip is Good..

If You Get No Display, But The Black Screen Lights Up.... It Is Either The Display Cable Or The Display Panel Itself....
