Question about Miele W 4800 Front Load Washer

1 Answer

It seems to take a long time to wash a load compared to other units ( like sears models) that I have been used to. Can it be adjusted to cycle in a shorter time

Thanks. One of the main reason I looked into this is my towels have smelled like mildew after washing and drying. I am attributing this to the towels being left in the washer too long after the cycle finishes (so I was trying to speed up the cycle to finish before I left the house for other tasks. Is there anything else related to this washer that might cause this odor?

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Every Machine has different timing cycles for which it is designed for. We cannot change the timing cycle for the machines as they use micro-controllers which cannot be programmed by a user. And, moreover it is a digital touchtronic washer, so, fiddling with its control board would not be fruitful and can lead to serious issues. And, can also hinder the correct functioning of the washer.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

    Hi

The Smell arises due to mold & fungus growth on the outer part of tub and mostly in and around the drain pump, drain filter. The reasons for this mold & fungus growth plus Bad odor are--

    1. Too much fabric softener and/or detergent liquid fabric softener does not breakdown very well in cold water and the residue collects on the outer tub and basket with the lint that is left from the wash and also collects additional soap and dirt and holds it .NOTE: TOO MUCH FABRIC SOFTNER WILL WATERPROOF CLOTHES.

    1. Constant COLD water washes; this will not allow the detergent to breakdown as well leaving un dissolved soap in the machine.

    1. Delayed time cycle, detergent will only hold dirt for 14 min.s ( TIDE , WHISK, E.T.C.) LIQUID OR POWDER in most units the max wash cycle is 14 min.s in just the wash cycle ,rince cycles may vary.

    1. Failure to remove clothes at the end of cycle, front loaders don’t as much access to open air as top load machines , so leaving clothes in the washer for more than 8hrs will increase mold and mildew build up.

Try these steps to remove the dirt, debris and odor from the washer—

    1. Set your machine to 60 degree wash.

    2. Now add 1/2 a cup of Washing Soda or 4 cups of baking soda Crystals and run the machine with no clothes in it.

    3. Your drain will sparkle, and it will remove all the debris, lint & mold growth from the drain pump and drain filter. Also the mold from the door seal will be cleared

    4. Add 1 desert spoonful of Washing Soda to every wash... I sprinkle it along the crease in the door seal.

    5. Clean the fabric softener cup with a rag first, (bleach will not break up fabric softener as it is introduced in the rinse cycle with the fabric softener.

    6. Also check the drain hose, it should not be clogged.

This will clean your machine and get rid of the odor.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

    Thanks
    Rylee

Ge washing machine wsxh208a1ww, The dial seems to get stuck during all cycles. If you go out and manually turn the dial one click it will keeping going. But it takes forever to do a load of laundry since...

The bad news is that you most likely need a new timer. I get mine (used) from e-bay after looking up the parts at "Sears Parts" by model number. Sears will sell you new parts by model number for your GE.
Be blessed.

Frigidaire FDB1050REM2 Stainless steel

They weren't lyin', with the new improved energy effeciency and cleaning units they using more "soaking" times to losen food particles to use less water and clean better. And that they deffinitly do versus old units and they save more energy by doing this also. On some makes and models theywill have cycles that still use less time but also will then use some more water during this cycle. My SEARS store "blue crew" did research and found out this cycle for me.

Can you adjust the water level on the LG Tromm WM1814CW? The water level when washing and rinsing is so low that the clothes are barely wet when the washer has finished.

No. Water level is not user adjustable. The washer will automatically put in the correct amount (about 3 inches in the bottom of the tub) and adjust for load size and type. This level is all that is needed. The reason the clothes are hardly wet at the end of the cycle is due to the high spin speed (compared to almost all top loading machines). If you want to see how wet the clothes really are, pause the machine mid cycle and the door will unlock and you can see, or select a "no spin" option and see at the end of that cycle. You will use about 12 gallons of water for a large load, vs. about 45 for a top loading machine, so remember to adjust your soap and fabric softener use accordingly. ( one tablespoon detergent and one teaspoon fabric softener maximum per load)

Top load Kenmore 800 washer will not fill with water

OK - I have a solution to my problem with this washing machine. Nothing would work except for one of the spin cycles. I thought it was the main switch - the cycle selection and start switch - but I was wrong. The service tech replaced the switch behind the fabric softener. It's the switch that controls the water levels. Part # W10292584. Our government is forcing the manufacturers to put controls on the washing machine to save water. It's a bad idea and is causing lots of problems. Tech says he's replacing them on a regular basis. Less than $100 if you do it yourself. Hope this helps.

Model #431423 front load washer will only spin on one cycle

If it has a Mallory/Sole motor speed control module located on the bottom right rear area of the cabinet, chances are THIS is the problem. They never completely quit working, just certain functions end up not working anymore---like yours. Various suppliers exist for this part ranging from $90-$150. Surf the net to find the best deal. Use your Sears model number on the search. I got mine for $82. Sears wanted $144.

Sears 110.23812100 washer leaks when spinning

There is a pause after the pump out that shift the tranmission into spin also if you open the lid the unit will go into spin before it pumps out completely . They have since fixed this issue...The newer models work offf the pressure switch to tell the unit when to go into spin only after the water level switch is open telling the machine there is no water left in the unit
