Most of the time the dishwasher door hinges are located on the framing at the bottom of the unit behind the kick plate. There should be a spring on either side with a series of small holes in the bottom framing. Move this spring closer to the door for less tension, further away for greater tension.

Use the pull cord and disconnect the opener from the door. Operate the opener and let the carrier slide back away from the door. Is the carrier moving smoothly when disconnected? Next, lift the door by hand from the bottom to the top. Is it moving smoothly? If not, lubricate the axles of all the rollers on both sides of the door. Check the cable pulleys at the top sides of the door channel, lubricate them as well. Are all cables in all the pulleys, there are 4. After checking those things, there is a "up force" and "down force" adjustment on the opener, try increasing the "up force" by turning the adjustment in the direction of MORE force.

My Chamberland door opener works fine sometimes, and other times it might move an inch each time I push the button or a foot, sometimes it goes up and stops before it gets to the top and same going down.

I recommend this to everyone with garage door opener problems:

Every time I push the opener button the chain goes about an inch and stops abruptly. The door is not able to be opened or closed as a result. Is this an adjustment problem?

Disconnect the opener from the door.
Lift the door and ensure that it moves freely from fully open to fully closed.
Try to operate the opener. Does it go all the way from open to cloosed?
If the door operates smoothly and the opener works without the door connected, check the up/down force adjustment on the body of the opener.
