Why do I have white / faded print when printing black? It also has problems printing straight lines - sometimes jagged sometimes just faded.

I do not know for sure but it sounds like the paper is not griped properly, this would cause the jagged lines. I would try another ink cart when the loose paper problem is resolved. I hope this helps.

I have a HP 7590 printer and it sometimes skips line or some of the lines are faded when printing black .

Perform the following steps to reduce or eliminate faded or grainy lines:
  1. Print at a higher quality setting.
  2. Verify that the paper you are printing on will lay flat. Paper that is not laying flat can cause banding when the paper transitions over the rollers or cause the print cartridges to scrape across the surface of the page. Check the top sheet of paper by removing it from the all-in-one and placing it on a flat surface. If the paper does not lie flat, bend it in the opposite direction to straighten it. Faded text every few lines- Canon printer

When you print photos you print in Max dpi, for this no faded lines anywhere. Probably you have a problem only in black color in print head.
Мay be it's partially clogged or partially defective.

First print line print fades away across page,

The page size is off. Try readjusting it in your "printing preferences". Otherwise, if it is new, back to the store for a replacement. It really should not do that.

Faded Lines on my prints from my Photosmart express C4280

try using isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth and carefully clean the print heads on the printer itself. Failing that, consult the manufacturer.

Printer doesn't print correctly.

My almost new F4100 printer is printing irradically, prints perfectly for two or three lines, then it fades to nothing, in a few more lines it prints perfect again. I can't find where to fix it.
