A separate oven thermometer is absolutely necessary in baking. Something similar to this would be cheap and easy. http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?order_num=-1&SKU=10161738
Or you could go for a digital one with a probe.

If you turn the center knob (marked 'time') to the right, it sets the timer; but if you turn it sufficiently far to the left, it goes into clock set mode. When you get to the correct time, press start.

This is a faulty oven temp sensor
should be a schematic in the oven when you take it apart. You can get the part at daysappliance or partselect . com
