Question about HP Pavilion dv8000t Notebook
The lcd likely has a burned out backlight. This issimilar to a tube light found in offices etc. Repair or replacement are the options, with the relacement option being easier. The backlight can be replaced, the actual bulb is less tan $20 , bu the labor is intensive and requires an expert. The next option is to buy a complete lcd from ebay, or even the whole top assembly from ebay and just swap out the whole top section.
There are service providers that can replair the backlight. look on craigslist, and ebay for these services. Expect to pay $200 for a repair.
