The knob does not pull out on dryers. Turn the timer to the desired setting and push the start button. Eric

Whirlpool gas dryer Model#WGD4900XW1 worked on certain timer settings for 6 mos. Now it only works on one setting and turns off. One more note: you have to gently pull the timer knob for it to turn on

Hello David, We're sorry to hear about your concerns regarding your Dryer. We recommend disconnecting power from the breaker for at least a minute and then turning the breaker back on to do a master reset on the Dryer. If you are in need of help after trying the reset, can you please email us your address, phone number, the model and serial number, the website you were contacted on, Fixya, your review ID, and date of purchase to Whirlpool_Digital@whirlpool.com?

I have a Kenmore gas dryer model 97591220. wont

Disconnect power to the dryer and remove the screws attaching the console rear panel to the console and pull the panel off.

Inspect the wires connected to the timer and ensure a snug fit connection. Clean the connectors and terminals then reseat it several times to ward off dirt within the connectors.

Reconnect power to the dryer and start it; replace the timer (part number 3398195 ) if the dryer still won't stay running. Unplug the dryer and pull the timer knob off the console. Remove the screws securing the timer to the bracket and remove it. Secure the new timer in place then disconnect the wires from the old timer one at a time and connect it to the corresponding terminal on the new timer.

Push the timer back into position on the console and secure the console rear panel in place.

The start knob doesn't engage when pulled. Do I just need to replace the knob assembly? Is it difficult?

Take the knob off and try using pliers to pull the stem. Don't pull any harder than you would with the knob. If it works, you just need a knob. If it still won't engage, you need a timer.

Yes sounds like bad timer. Price is retail but should be available online cheaper via eBay or amazon.

take off the back panel look closely at the timer you will see a tab that you carefully pull up a little and twist the timer off. to take off the knob in the timer opposite the knob there is a pin that you pull out and the knob will pop off.

Dryer won heat timer dosen't avance

huntman, the model posted shows as a gas dryer. In the lower left side there is a square plastic peep hole. Take a putty knife and pull it off. Set the dryer to high heat and take a look in the hole. Does the ignitor glow? If it doesn't you either have a bad thermal fuse or a bad ignitor. Start with the thermal fuse. You will have to remove the back panel to get at it. I will attach a photo. You can ohm it out, or just jump the wires temp. to see if the ignitor glows. If theral fuse is good and the ignitor does glow, you probabley have a bad set of coils. These sit on the gas valve are easy to replace. The timer won't advance without the heat. Check this out first...Catriver..post back.
