Question about Whirlpool Refrigerators
I have an older Sears Kenmore 22 refrigerator, number 106.8552970. Over the years I've ocassionally had to replace the door cam plastic at the lower pivot. The last replacement did not last very long - perhaps about 6 months. I was finding flakes of plastic on the floor below the pivot. Upon dissassembly I found the plastic castle-head-like shapes worn down. I replaced them Sunday with a set of Whirlpool FSP 2155311 door cams which I obtained from a local appliance parts store. Now, 4 days later I again find that flakes are appearing and the door seems to excessively bind in the fully open position. It worked fine initially. Noticed the binding 2 days ago and the flakes last night. HELP!!!

from your description it sounds like your hearing the start relay trying to start your compressor. most likely this relay is bad and needs replacing.

First do the simple things like cleaning the condensor coils and turning the defrost timer a few times, also check the evaporator motor or just listen to the fan by opening the freezer door. Also check the light switch, make sure it turns the light off every time you close the door.

Hello Catherine Fu,
You said, you got this whirlpool double door refrigerator for 4 years. cost me about 1.5k. the second year, right after warranty, the main brain is down-the light panel in the refrigerator is off. whirlpool tech told me to replace it will cost me 500, so you decide not to do it. Now you have bad frosting issue for 6 month. Inside the Refrigerator, the water keep on dripping on side wall and glass drawer ceiling. In the freezer, frosting all over each drawer, and the bottom drawer has too many frosting and ice that i can hardly close the door. Last night, the refrigerator section just don't get cold anymore, it shuts up by itself.
Help!! It is an very expensive refrigerator and ONLY 4 years old .
First,I think you need to have a new tech.
It sounds like you have either an air leak allowing out side air in and this causes the icing.
Or you may need some freon (coolant gas) .
If your freon pressure is low it can ice up.
Did that tech that was there check for a freon leak and also check the pressure of the freon in the lines???
You need to call a different tech and let him see what's happening.
Some company that is reliable!
Let me know what they do for you.
God bless, Huuum

Have you considered the strppingt around the door? If so, you can use silicone spray for it or anything else around the fridge. Wipe up excess. There is a version of the spray which says that it is dripless. I think I saw it at ACE.

SOURCE: Refrigerator door fell off.
Should be able to just replace the pin if the door didn't get damaged. If you go to Sears.com, put in the model number and you can get a parts breakdown and order the parts yourself and save some money.
