You should reset the camera:
-Hold camera upside down
-Open battery/card door
-Make sure A/C power is DISconnected
-You should see a small hole above and to the right of the battery slot, insert a sharp object and press
-Re-insert card and battery
If this does not work, try it again a few times, if still unresponsive, the camera may need to be serviced by HP.
Press the flash button (just under the viewfinder) to cycle through the flash settings. Your choices are Auto Flash, Auto Flash with Red-eye Reduction, Flash On, Flash Off, and Night.
If you want to capture the screen image, you're better off using the computer operating system's screen-capture capability. This will give you the screen exactly as it is, without the distortions inherent in converting to an analog image and then converting it back to a digital image.
I had this exact problem when I had not used my camera for some time. For me the solution was to take out the flash card, and turn on the camera while pressing the flash button. This allowed me to run the self diagnostic test (which were ok by the way), and then after turning the camera off and on again it worked!
1. First disconnect the camera from the computer if connected. 2. On camera press menu button, and then use the left/right arrow buttons to move to the Menu tab for the Setup Menu. 3. Highlight and then select USB Configuration then press OK. 4. Highlight and then select Disk Drive then press OK.
Fixya did nothing to help me I contacted HP techs and this is what they told me and it worked.
