Question about Dometic Rooftop RV Air Conditioner

1 Answer

My RC air conditioner (Duotherm) kicks the circuit breaker every time I turn it on. It used to kick the circuit breaker every so often, but lately it kicks it immediately if I try to turn on the AC.

Try replaceing the start or run capacitor to the compressor. If no help you can install a start assist capacitor, it helps to start a tight compressor.

Air Compressor sometimes reaches 50psi and kicks circuit breaker. The motor beld vibrates before kicking breaker off.

Hi Bobby:
Sounds like the load on the circuit exceeds the capacity of the breaker. This happens because as the pressure builds, the resistance of the compressor increases. When it reaches 50 psi (in your circumstance) the circuit starts to draw more amps than the breaker is rated for. so it trips.
Solution?
- Find a circuit with a higher rating, or
- Decrease the diameter of the drive pulley. This will give a better mechanical advantage and possibly solve the problem.
Hope this helps

Our airconditioning just shuts off and when we turn the on power is just kicks off. Is there a re-set button?

There should be a main circuit breaker in your switch board. Turn the ac of leave for a min . that will reset it . You might have other problems also

Tripping the circuit breaker for a Fridgidair FS3BA-036KA. Once its on it works. When it kicks off no problems when it kicks in again it trips the curcit breaker again

I would suggest that you quit doing that . It's probibly to late now But it appears you have a short either on the fan side or the compressor side. I hope its not the compressor as you make matter worse if you keep resting it . call a tech

My a/c will run and cool great but keeps kicking the 20 amp circuit breaker even when no other appliance is running.

A 20 amp circuit breaker should be sufficient enough to do the job unless the breaker itself is too old, or if the connection screws on the breaker are not tight enough.

Ac Problems

You must have too many things running on that circuit. Check your connection to the power box.Loose connection on the receptacle can cause the breaker to trip or too many things running on the same circuit. If the breaker is old it might need to be replaced.

Duotherm 1350 Btu's air conditioner breaker problems

Are you using a long lightweight extension cord? This unit alone draws almost 1000 watts. On a 20 amp circuit this doesn't leave a lot of room for other appliances and lights. If this is a brand new unit and the extension cord is the right size the air conditioner should still be under warranty.
