You can, but I would not recommend it. Putting a jumper can be a problem because if the wire is too thin it can burn up the wire and the casing. The switch is designed to contain the arc/spark at the timeof engagement.

If you choose to ignore common sense, make sure that you unplug the mower from the extension cord, secure a 12ga wire to both black wires inside the case, close the case, and plug in the extension cord. Be prepared to immediately disconnect the mower once it turns on, and also you should expect an arc/spark when you connect and disconnect the extension cord. This is the spark the switch is designed to contain within its case.

How to bypass safty switch or jump wire on cub cadet zero turn ?

Before bypassing any safefty switches I would check the safetyswitch on your clutch pedal and seat, make sure that the pedal is pushing in the switch and the seat make sure its plugged in,rarely I have seen a safefty switch go bad unless the mower is stored outside and one could possible get rusty and go from there! good luck!!!

Replaced battery and will not make a sound

Troubleshoot as follows: 1. Using a set of jumper cables connect the Black side of the jumper cable between to the (-) of battery and a the block of the engine. Connect one (red) end of the jumper cable to the (+) of battery...And just touch the other end of the red cable to where to mower battery cable touches the starter. *Only tap it and starter should turn over. This bypasses all switches and wiring. If it does not turn the starter, the starter is likely bad. If it does turn over, check the starter solenoid, seat safety switch, blade engagement safety switch, clutch brake switch, or wiring in between those components. A wiring diagram would be most helpful. It came with the mower, or can be found online...likely at a sears/craftsman web site, but sometimes also at parts retailer website too. Similar bypass method can be used for troubleshooting. DO NOT OPERATE WITH BYPASSED SAFETY SWITCHES, ETC. Bypassing is for troubleshooting only.

Mower starts but when I try to put it in forward, reverse, let go of the cuts out. What is the problem?

Check the switch under the seat. This prevents the mower from running when you try to get off and the PTO / Blades are still engaged.

Normally, a failure of this switch would also prevent you from starting it, unless it is wired in parallel with the brake. Check the switch. If the switch is bad, unplugging the connector should allow you to bypass the switch (Normally Open if memory serves). If this works, replace switch.

I have a white outdoors riding mower....the mower shut off when i engage the the switch bad?.....can i by-pass it? do i test the switch????

Check the safety pressure switch under your seat. When you engage the PTO and get off the lawn mower, it will kill the engine. I had the same problem; drove me nuts. I thought it was the switch that is compressed when the PTO is engages. It wasn't. It was the safety under the seat. Bypassed and it worked fine. Ordered a new switch from a local repair shop. Good luck.

When I let the cluth brake out my engine shuts off

sound like 1 of your safety switches is bad. mower will run with the brake on and your not on it. there should be a seat switch under the seat, there should be a blade engage switch somewhere on the chassis, and there is also a brake switch. trace your wire harness through out the mower and check each switch. you can check the switches by unplugging them and connecting a wire to each terminal in the plug to check each 1. if after you unplug a switch and use the wire and the mower stays running after you release the brake then that switch is can bypass the switches by leaving the wire connected to the plug.
