Set powers up and operates fine, then without warning, shuts off the video and audio (power stays on). Will sometimes return to normal (with a loud "pop") within a few minutes, sometimes will not come back on for hours. This is random - length of time between episodes and the time out of commission is highly variable. The manual indicates that this type of event is considered normal, but when it won't return to normal operation for hours - renders the set pretty much useless.

This is a 4 years old projection TV kept in a good shape. Few days ago I tried to turn it on while the TV was on standby power (Red Lights on) it turned the green light on and momentarily it turned it off so the TV does not turn on. There is a clicking sound such as relay trying to turn on but it reverts to standby power again. Sometime I can do this using remote control but lately the remote control does not initiate this transition either. So far I could manually turn the standby power off and on to turn the green light come on for 1 or two second and it clicks and it turns off.
I opened the front standby switch the part # looks like ES892S. Does the remote on/off circuitry resides in this switch or it is located somewhere else?
