Problem for Digital Cameras

MS Vista wont recognise any downloads fro...

Hi All
If I try to download picture files from a compact card to Vista, explorer tries to close, so when I downloaded the same files to a portable hardrive and tried to open those in Photoshop CS, photoshop tried to close!!
However..........these file work fine on my laptop running XP!!!
Is it because the D300 is brand spanking new and Vista hasnt caught up yet with Nikons latest program???
