Could be a couple of things, backlighting, inverter, a tiny switch that controls on/off of the monitor, when you open and close the laptop lid, it may get stuck or damaged, usually found near the monitor hinges. Take a look at this video, you decide if you can tackle it:

Black screen

Not much info to work with? Does it boot? fan spin? Can you see a "ghost image" on the monitor in a bright light? Does it show in a External monitor? Any damage? Drop? A few things to check, Backlighting, inverter, on/off switch that controls the monitor when the lid is opened or closed, and the ribbon cable that runs up the back of the monitor. OR the monitor/Graphics is gone. If you boot to Safe Mode any change? Take a look at this video for troubleshooting tips:

Charging and monitor issues

If your AC Adapter and Power Cord is working fine, then your new battery has a problem if it will not charge. Just because it is new does not mean it will work.

As for your Monitor, try the steps below. Because it works with an external monitor, we know your Video Card is working fine, so the problem is either the LCD Inverter or the Lcd Screen itself is bad.

Shine a flashlight on the dark screen to see if you barely see the icons on the desktop. If so, then the LCD Inverter is bad.

If you see no icons by shinning a flash light and the external monitor works, then your screen is bad. If you see no icons by shinning the flash light and nothing shows on the external monitor, then most likely your video card is bad.

Try an external monitor. If that works its probally the inverter again. There is probally an underlying cause that is taking out the inverter. Possibly a bad resister that powers the inverter or that long skinny board the inverter plugs into could have a bad component on it. I would change both to be safe. Of course the inverter you put in could of been bad too. Stranger things have happened.

Could I plug the computer into the televison to watch a movie I have download

yes you can, simply plug 15 pin vga cable into the vga output of laptop, where you connect your projector another end of the cable will be connected to the television. It will take few seconds to appear but the television should be LCD

In the case of crt television you can use s-video out put of laptop and same data cable .

Few setting has to be done as follows.

Right click on desk top

Properties ----- settings

Now sellect the display from drag down menu or click
on the visual display of icon 1 and 2 for relative screen.

My Screen will not turn on, even when it is fully charged, plugged in, etc. The computer does power on, but the screen is completely blank, (not even lit, but black) help!

First make sure that this is a LCD problem to do this connect your laptop to an external monitor, so that it is confirmed that your laptop itself is fine.
If connecting the laptop to an external monitor doesn't work it would mean there is something wrong in your system. Most common problem is dislodged RAM, remove your ram and reconnect it properly.
If your system is working fine on the external monitor then go near to your LCD screen when laptop is turned on and look very closely on the screen if you see the anything on it but very dim, it would mean that you have a faulty backlight, the backlight itself is faulty or the inverter.

Acer Aspire 9300 external monitor problem

when that happens again try pressing alt+esc. If that doesn't help try changing the resolution or the refresh rate of the monitor.

Watch laptop movies on TV?

What you would need is a VGA to RCA converter cable. Something like this. Once hooked up, use your Fn key combination to switch the view from the internal monitor on the laptop to the external monitor, now your TV.

Cannot project movies in powerpoint

I have encountered this same problem once in the office when i was trying to do the same thing.

The solution:
*Assuming you have windows xp*

1) make sure the projector and the laptop are connected (FN+F8), do a right click anywhere in your desktop then go to settings by default Monitor 1 would be your Lattitude D620 and Monitor 2 should be your projector, to make sure of that click on the 'identify' it should show a 1 in your laptop and a 2 on the projector
2) now select monitor 2 and select 'use this device as my primary monitor' check mark, by doing this your videos should play in your monitor but they will be a blank/black screen on the laptop (basically we are reverting the order).
