Sounds like that there is videos issues caused by cable with bad function.. try to test with another type of cables, such as A/V , Component cable ...Try to set the Ps3 resolution that your lcd or tv supports...try to test in another LCD-TV
Good Luck!!!

Well I'm guessing you want to play your playstation through HDMI? If so are you currently using scart lead red white and yellow. What you have to do is use the scart lead red white and yellow and connect to the tv and connect the HDMI to the Yamaha as you do already. Turn on using tv go to Settings>video output change to HDMI then done

Can play and wii but not playstation 3 the television is hd can anyone help its sony just cant play playstation do i need special lead

What you need to do is reset the display. Connect your PS3 to the TV using either the standard A/V lead or a HDMI lead. Turn your PS3 off into standby mode (red light on). Press and hold the power button. It will beep when you first press is, then beep again 5 seconds later. Let go of the power button when you hear this second beep.

This will reset the display and auto-detect your HDMI lead if you are using one.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa

Ps3 using digital optical and hdmi cables together

There is a conflict in the fact that HDMI gives you the digital surround sound without the need for the optical lead and when you allocate the optical for the sound thats when the conflict starts, you can only use one or the other.
