Laptop wont detect Router

I'm running vista. My laptop just won't detect the router. These is a little hazard warning that says limited connection. I tried reseting the router over 20 times and unplugging and plugging it back in. I try to go to the ip website they give you in order to be able to configure it and it wont even go there. it displays the usual offline web page. Is there anything else I could try to make this work? Anything is welcome.

I've tried a wired connection and that's when the limited connectivity warning shows up. When I try to connect wireless my laptop doesn't even detect a network.

The router should be working. All lights are working perfectly, except of course for the WLAN which is probably why my laptop doesn't pick it up.

Assuming your laptop and router are wireless, make sure you enter your security passcode for the network correctly. A mistake on the passcode will prevent you from connecting.

Also, try to reach the router's configuration from a wired connection. Once you do so, make sure you don't have the router set to deny access to unknown computers (that is, make sure any kind of "access list" is turned off).

You can try and change the channel that router is broadcasting on. This can be an issue sometimes. Change it to something popular like channel 4 or 8. I hope this was helpful. Good Luck

Try resetting your wireless router first, then make sure that the network you are connecting to is yours and not another nearby wireless signal (I live in an area that's polluted with wireless signals and sometimes a neighbor's signal will be stronger than mine, so it will try to connect to theirs). If that doesn't work then go to your Network and Sharing Center and choose the setup a network connection option. You'll have to manually enter your info again but it should work fine.

If your laptop is not detecting the wireless router, can you try to get the laptop closer to the router ? If you have done that already, I would suggest you to try and power cycle the router once. If that doesnt work either, try to reset the router. Hope this helps

I don't know what a level 1 router is, but try hooking directly to your modem with the lan line that goes to your router, if you get a connection there, reconnect your router to your modem and then connect a line to one of the outputs from your router. If you get nothing out of it, then your router is probably fried

When you look on the box that the router came in, you have to look to see what Operating Systems it is compatible with. In many cases, routers will not be compatible with vista. I have a Linksys WRT300N, and it works great with Vista.Hope this helps.
