Says max ram is 4gb.
DDR II SDRAM, 667 MHz (PC2-5300)

From what your saying in the last sentence I think you are mixing memories, which is a big no no. Stick to only PC2-5300, look for a 2 or 4gb PC2-5300.

Try going with, slot1 = factory's memory, slot2 = your PC2-5300 memory. If this works try switching the memories to find what is the faulty problem, the slot or your memory. Trail and error, just don't use the wrong memory again because that will really mess up your computer.

If you are using the XP or Vista OS, if you are going to install more than 3 GB of Memory then it fails to show up on the computer properties.

Once you install the memory then you may check the BIOS for the memory installed in the system, the BIOS shows the exact amount of memory installed in the system.

You system is capable of 4 GB of RAM.

I m trying to upgrade my HP compaq nc6320 RAM MEMORY from 1GB to 4GB, Do i need BIOS upgrade if yes from were i can find the drivers and how can i do it? thanx i am gone wait for respond......

Hi,

As far as I know, the machine supports 4GB of ram, so you purchase the ram modules from a pc parts dealer and install them inside the machine, removing the existing ram, there are 2 slots, so you need 2, 2GB cards.

You do not require any drivers or bios update.

Windows will need to be upgraded to 64Bit version if you wish to use the full capacity. as normal windows is limited to 3-3.75GB

Further questions? let me know.

I have a HP 7600dc Small Form pentium4HT 3.4 GHZ. it has 1GB of Ram with 4 slots whats the best, safest way to max out the RAM in this machine? What type of RAM do i need?

Memory Type: DDR2 PC2-5300, DDR2 (non-ECC)
Maximum Memory: 4GB
Slots: 4
Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-5300 with a maximum of 1GB per slot.*
*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory.
icon_note.gifAlthough the memory can be installed one module at a time, the best performance comes from using matched pairs of modules. When using PC2-5300 parts the maximum memory is 2GB. When using PC2-4200 the maximum is 4GB.

Support memory ram of 2 gb for each slot of the board

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00714578&tmp_track_link=ot_recdoc/c00757531/en_us/c00714578/loc:1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us

Everything I read about this motherboard says Max is 4GB, 1 per slot. You might be able to use 2GB in two slots, but I dont think your going past the 4GB barrier.

Its not the HP way...

BUT Toms hardware gave this machine a "powerhouse" rating.
