Question about Apple iPod touch

1 Answer

Hi, I have an iPod 8GB. When I turn it on, the screen appears with the msg "Slide to unlock" so I slide it to the right and it always opens to the music section. No matter which side I touch, I do not seem to be able to return to "home" where there used to be many icons such as for games, movies etc. I can only listen to music as the icons displayed are related to music such "Artists" & "Song List". Please advise. Thanks

Have you tried pressing the round button below the screen...if pressing that doesnt return you to the menu then you may have a button problem.

My ipod

The iPod is a portable music player made by Apple. As of early 2011, Apple sells four models: iPod shuffle, iPod classic, iPod nano and iPod touch. If your iPod experiences a problem such as not responding or freezing, you can reset it to see if that takes care of the problem. IPod Shuffle The iPod shuffle is the smallest iPod model, with 2GB of storage.
It has no screen and attaches to your clothing with a clip, making it well suited for exercising while listening to music.
When it doesn't respond, or if the status light is solid red, you can reset it.
Slide the three-way switch left toward the word "Off," covering the green bar. Wait 10 seconds, and then slide the switch back to reveal the green bar to turn it back on.
IPod Classic
The iPod classic has a 160GB hard drive for storing music, videos and pictures.
If it experiences a problem, you can easily reset it.
Slide the "Hold" switch to the "Hold" position and then slide it back.
Press "Menu" and the center button simultaneously on the click wheel and hold them for about six seconds, until Apple's logo appears on the screen.
IPod Nano
Apple's iPod nano has a touch-screen display and comes with 8GB or 16GB of storage, depending on the configuration.
It has a pedometer and an FM radio.
If the iPod nano doesn't respond, reset it.
Press the "Sleep/Wake" button and the "Volume Down" button simultaneously and hold them until the screen gets dark, and then wait a few more seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen, followed by the home screen.
IPod Touch
The iPod touch has a touch-screen display, two cameras for shooting pictures and movies, and Wi-Fi for accessing the Internet. Its capacity ranges from 8GB to 64GB, depending on the configuration.
You can use the iPod touch to send email and make video calls, as well as play games and run applications. If the iPod touch freezes or otherwise isn't working, you can get it running again after resetting it.
Press the "On/Off-Sleep/Wake" button and the "Home" button simultaneously for at least 10 seconds, until Apple's logo appears on the screen.

How to disable ipod

Your iPod touch shows a lock symbol on the top of the screen when it's in lock mode. This protects your iPod from being accidentally bumped on or off while you're focused on other things. Getting in and out of lock mode is somewhat intuitive, but can take a couple of tries the first time.

What Does Lock Mode Do? Lock mode keeps you from accidentally turning your iPod on or off.
This helps save battery life if you have it locked while it's asleep.
It prevents your music from turning off if you've put your iPod in your pocket. However.
it's not an advanced security feature -- anyone can bring your iPod out of lock mode if they know how.
Lock Symbol When you see the lock symbol on the top of your iPod touch's screen, it always means that the iPod is in lock mode. There's no other reason for that symbol to appear. If it appears and your iPod is not in lock mode, just turn your iPod touch off and then on again and it should disappear. b> Entering Lock Mode b> Press the Sleep/Wake button on the top right of the iPod touch. You may need to hold it down for a couple of seconds. Don't hold it down for too long, as ten seconds or so will force a restart and turn your iPod completely off and then on again. b> Exiting Lock Mode b> Press the Sleep/Wake button again, and wait a moment for the screen to light up. You'll see a slider bar that prompts you to slide it to wake up and unlock the iPod touch. Put a finger or thumb on the solid part of the slider, then slide your finger to the right. This gesture is simple, but might take a couple of tries. You need to tap firmly on the slider, then keep contact with the iPod as you slide to the right.

Ipod is on but the slide bar is frozen you cannot slide it open

Just a simple solution--try rebooting your iPod touch. To do that:
  1. Hold down both Power (button on the top) and Home (button on the front) buttons.
  2. Continue doing so even after the iPod Touch turns off and when the Apple logo appears, let go.
  3. Your iPod Touch is now going to operate smoothly, unless you have damaged your device, and if you have, go to an Apple store to have it fixed.
