MacBookPro Does Not Read DVDs

For no apparent reason, suddenly I can no longer read DVDs with my MacBook Pro. It still reads Cds though.
OSX 10.4.11. The built in superdrive is GSA-S10N

Our Bose AV 321 series 2 has played same DVDs w/o problem for years and now suddenly when putting in the same DVDs all are coming up with the error "unsuported format". It still plays all the CDs we p

clean it,clean the dvds,they make special dvd cleaners and dvd player cleaners check local wal-mart price is pretty fair.

Macbook pro will not read dvds

If it reads CDs but not DVDs, the optical drive is faulty. You can get it replaced by an Apple tech, or you can invest in an external optical drive.

Suddenly stopped reading cds but reads dvds

Could be a bad drive, as DVD lasers are a little different than just CD lasers. The laser may be bad for one, but the other can work. I had this issue, had to buy a new drive.

I think you can work the CD out with a piece of cardboard , but be very careful!

MACBOOK PRO SuperDrive Reads somes Recorded DVDs fine but some appear as empty while in other mas are fine

Try cleaning the DVD drive head in the mac. Search youtube for video instructions.
