sorry- was mowing... when it runs, it sounds normal- like it's cooking. when you take the item out- it's the same temp as when you put it in. Have read everything from "door sensor" to "magnatron". Everything else on microwave works, just will not heat, even though it sounds like it's heating normally. If it is a fuse, where is it located, once I take the panel off?

It's not going to be a fuse. If the inside light, intenral cooling fan, and turntable do not ALL work when you try to cook, then you have a bad door switch or door switch mount. Pulling up or down on the door while you try to run it may make it start working, thus hsowing you where the problem lies. If these all do work, it's most likely a bad connection at the magnetron, a bad magnetron, or a bad high voltage rectifier diode. Whether it's louder or quieter than usual can provide clues. Is it making any sounds when you run it? Does it sound like an angry swarm of bees? If so, then most likely the magnetron has failed. If you are not hearing any sounds like this then, maybe, it might be the fuse.

Normally when you take the cover off, the fuse will be on the right of the oven on the circuit board.

Microwave too much steam won't cook

If there is no heat, then it's probably a defective magnetron.

I have a GE JES831WB 001 microwave that I'd love to fix. The light, clock & timer are working, but that's all - no fan nor heating. Any suggestions?

The door switches are often a problem, one or two are probably defective which would cause the symptoms that you are describing.

Hi, I have an Oster OMW1199 microwave that will not heat food. The light turns on and the timer works, but no heat.

I bought-the oster microwave and like others it did not last long before it stop heating. I took (careful precaution!!) and (unplugged the the unit!!) to view the fuse which of course is the main problem why this microwave does not heat up. Everything else works well but the heating. But since I changed the fuse to something very close to the same amp of the actual fuse it did work fine next to nothing.

I did not find any problem other than the noheating. This should only be attempted by someone who is in fact has close knowledge of electricity. The process is safe (WITH THE CORRECT PRECAUTION!!).Ever since I replaced the fuse and found out that that was all it needed I have been using it for 8 mths. Note--I did take measures into my own hands which is not recommended by anyone. But it is the old-fashion way...

Microwave still lights up and timer still works but it won't heat anything up

The magnetron is the most likely cause, "heats food" this part is the heart of the microwave and expensive. The other two parts to consider is the high voltage capacitor and diode, but repairs will run high depending on the nature of the problem.

Mw8992rd seems to be working fine except won't heat food. timer, touch pad, inside light, carousel all work fine. tried different times and power levels but still no heat.

Hello,
This sounds like a bad magnetron that would have to be replaced. There is up to 2000 volts stored in a microwave, even when unplugged. For saftey reasons I would strongly suggest you have a qualified technician check it out.
Hope this helps.

Can't use the microwave at all

you have either a bad keypad or control board.

If you have operation of some buttons and not others its the keypad. if you have no operation out of the buttons at all you have a bad control board.

If you turn your microwave on and it sets and the timer counts down you have a bad interlock switch..

please let me know exactly what your microwave does when you set the cook time

My microwave doesnt heat up,

Since it's less than one year old, it should be fully covered under warranty. I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer to get it fixed free.

Their contact information will be in your owner's manual.

If for some reason you do not have your owner's manual, please reply back with your brand and model number so we can help you.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.
